Stopped here because we had been turned away from two other Clacton pubs ( we hadn't booked anywhere) but it turns out, things happen for a reason. In this case the reason was that we found the best kept secret in Sunday lunches ever. I for one have paid a hell of a lot more for a roast not even half as good. Had the most amazing Sunday lunch at the crown. The beef was super tender and lovely crispy roasties veg cooked to perfection, and staff friendly and on the ball. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely come back sooner rather than later

The atmosphere is the main reason to come here. The wonderful staff are always friendly and welcoming. The owners always book brilliant entertainment and have worked really hard to turn a pub with a previously bad reputation into a comfortable happy place. Always clean and tidy the garden area is the perfect place to relax on a nice day. Support local business and visit you won't be disappointed.
