Fabulous selection of quality wines and mini prosecco. Upstairs fab for a small family gathering. Fresh cakes, nibbles and sandwiches. Always beautifully presented

This was my first visit to The Piano, which is tucked away behind George Street. It was a Saturday afternoon and the cafe was very busy. It is set over two floors so although the ground floor was full there was plenty of room upstairs. The staff were fast, efficient and attentive. I chose a latte and carrot cake and my partner a lemonade and chocolate fudge cake. The home made cakes were of generous portion size and very good. The coffee was excellent as was the lemonade. The prices were very reasonable and I would recommend a visit.

The new owners have carried on where Adiele left off. Excellent range of cake and good fresh coffee. They have added a Guinness pump, which was great on a hot day. Always a pleasant experience.

Excellent café with beautiful classical music! The cakes are to die for! The staff are so lovely, kind and very hospitable. One of the best coffee shops I've been to. Shen you visit Saffron Walden, you must come here! ?Thank you very much!

Under new management. Have visited several times and happy to continue, even for just an espresso and a slice of cake. Even had live music (a young lady playing the piano) on one occasion.

As previously mentioned the place is now under management. Firstly, there is now a very good range of cake’s including a very nice latte cake. The staff are very friendly. I think there were more staff than customers. I hope the new owners will continue to improve this place. It’s definitely gone up in excitations.

Piano is under new management and is a lovely, relaxing experience. Lunches are always excellent, the coffee is great and Kerri and her staff are attentive and friendly. We actually went twice today. Once for coffee and cake, then returned for a delicious Ploughman's lunch. I can't recommend Piano highly enough!

My family visited for a coffee on Saturday afternoon. I have two children under the age of four and requested one hot chocolate split into two smaller cups as well as two coffees. The waitress said this was fine but two large hot chocolates arrived which we thought was odd. The hot chocolates were piping hot, so we requested some additional milk to cool them down to a temperature suitable for children. My 18-month-old son was being a little loud but nothing too untoward and the manager popped her head up the stairs and asked us to keep the noise down. We were clearly not welcome, so I requested the bill as I wanted to make a swift exit as I have never felt so unwelcome. The bill arrived and to my surprise they had charged us for two adult hot chocolates and the additional milk which I questioned and refused to alter.I have visited many of the other coffee shops in Saffron Walden and can honestly say they bend over backwards to ensure the children are happy and would never question a toddler being noisy.

Went there for the first time today . Ploughman’s was amazing , different to a standard ploughman’s in that I received several different types of cheese , really enjoyed the enhanced ploughman’s ! Great service and really nice to sit their whilst listening to the piano being played by an exceptionalPlayer . Had a lovely hour here .

Sadly not nice coffee, but I can normally enjoy an atmosphere. Only one member of staff was friendly, two others rude, and we were charged for a drink we didn’t have even when questioned. Thank goodness for the goat, cou cou, bicicletta and gluttons!

We had a lovely lunch here and were looked after by very friendly staff. We are looking forward to going back and hopefully hearing some live music!
