Exceptional Fathers Day's set menu feast with Calamari for starters which is the best I've ever had, Prawn Chilli Linguini for main sooo tasty and Spotted Dick for desert which was sublime (had to loosen my belt after) Thanks to Paul, Michelle and all the staff for a fantastic memorable meal....

We popped in to meet a friend for a drink and hoped they could fit us in for lunch. The atmosphere was very relaxing while the staff perfectly attentive and friendly. We were warned when they would need the table back but never felt rushed in anyway. The food was good quality with decent portion sizes. A lovely meal out.

We met our son & family for an after Christmas get together on 29 December 2021. It was a lovely place, the staff were very friendly & it had a nice atmosphere. Food was amazing & very tasty. Would definitely come again. Well done everyone at The. Cock!

Went to The Cock today and had Sunday lunch for the first time and was so impressed. Hard to find a good roast but have to say one of the best I’ve had. Service fabulous and great value for money. Highly recommend. Hats off to the chef as it was extremely busy.

Thank you Trip-advisor for another great find…met family at the Cock for lunch and glad we found it. Firstly, superb welcome from the staff, believe the proprietors and while short staffed on our visit service was first class. The food itself was excellent, very generous portions and good value for money. 100% would recommend and visit again if near the area.

Our large party was efficiently served with a huge amount of patience and humour! The food was excellent, large portions and extremely tasty.g The menu catered for all dietary requirements, including the children.

Popped in as a bit peckish. Noticed some lovely looking food being served. Ordered the ham and cheese ploughmans. The best on I've ever had.

We had a lovely lunch here with family. We sat outside in the garden and chose a sunny spot. The waitress was very nice and friendly. She helped us by bringing us a chair for one of us. There was a general menu plus some ‘specials’ - everything was well presented and very tasty. We had garlic mushrooms to start which were good. Then between us we had jacket potatoes (one with prawns and another with chilli), a scampi and chips plus a chicken burger. All were excellent. For dessert we had a cheese board and 3 of us had the luscious lemon and white chocolate cheesecake. I recommend this pub for excellent pub style food.

Dropped in having messaged them on FB a few days earlier to ask if we needed to book on a trip to see Mountfitchet Castle from London. The place was quiet and relaxed. Hopefully with the lifting of restrictions, they get the crowds back in as it’s a genuinely nice pub. Unfortunately we’d picked a day where I was in the throes of Covid jab side effects and it was baking hot so I didn’t have much appetite but the food I did manage to eat was delicious. I had a King Prawn Cocktail followed by a pie with roasties. Martin had the full three courses of soup, a beef dinner and a plum tart for dessert. The cost including 3 cold (ice! lovely ice!) drinks plus a tea and a double espresso was just £55. The service was great, nothing was too much trouble and everyone was totally chilled-unlike the weather! I’m coming back in a few weeks, hopefully on a cooler day and without having been freshly jabbed with dead Covid and on a day when it isn’t hotter than the Middle East!

We were invited by friends to go for lunch at this pub and I am so glad we did the food was delicious I asked for gluten free sausages even though they weren't on the menu and they obliged with no problems at all they were extremely accomadating and nothing was too much trouble the food was served piping hot and very generous portions my only gripe is unfortunately we don't live in that area otherwise we would eat there a lot more often
