We are so lucky to have The Maypole in Thaxted. It’s rare these days to go to somewhere to eat and drink where you come away and feel they’ve got everything right. Nicely decorated with a few quirks, clean, friendly, helpful staff, great food, good beer selection and good value. It’s 5 stars from me!
Once again, top food with attentive and interested staff, including new bar-maid Ginny Tonic. And as an image is better than a thousand words, I include a photo of my Sunday Roast with freshly cooked seasonal vegetables, and meat that hasn't been frozen for the last three months. A true British pub that hasn't forgotten quality never goes out of fashion. Always good value and highly recommended.

Visited The Maypole today for the first time in many years. The place has completely changed since our last visit. We had a wonderful lunch, chose our meals from a wide menu. Excellent friendly staff, brilliant… well presented interior, decorated for Christmas…. we will return.
