Lovely little cosy restaurant, easy to miss if you are going in the evening as the outside sign is not too obvious. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a lovely and smiley girl who showed us to our table and took our coats. We went for the 8 course menu which was £135/pers and it included a complementary canapé and water (still or sparkling). The dishes were very well balanced both in terms of texture and taste, some with subtle flavours that would perfectly complement each other, while others were much bolder, giving you an explosion of taste with every bite.I particularly enjoyed the reinterpretation of coronation chicken in a suprisingly mini format with a bold flavour profile and the smoked eel on a bed of rolled potatoes with a nice mustard and dill sauce and crispy apple batons. The tequila palate cleanser was a nice suprise mid-meal and the rhubarb dessert was the perfect balance of sweet and sour, crunchy and soft.Overall a great culinary experience from a 1 Michelin star restaurant. I will definitely be back!

Lovely. Well deserving of its Michelin star. Entrance is incognito!

My wife and I were given a lunch at Lumiere as a collective Christmas present by our wonderful children. What a terrific choice! It is all about the food. The charming service and the impeccable decor are there to let you concentrate on the food. We had a seven-course tasting menu together with wines chosen to match. There were more than seven servings, as some of the courses, such as the canapés, had two or three parts to them. The flavours that the chef had put together were phenomenal. Who could have known that a morsel of Coronation Chicken (served in a little pastry cup) could make you weep with joy? The crispy mussel (really!) had surely been delivered from Heaven - no human could make something that delicious. The 'Teqila Slammer' palate cleanser, perfectly placed before course six, cleansed the palate sure enough, and put a spring back into your appetite. What sort of genius thinks of making a cocktail into such a thing? It was the course that had the only bit of restaurant theatre in it, and that made us both smile. No spoilers, it's worth seeing for yourself. My wife and I left the restaurant very happy and very full. We are still talking about it a week later, and we are still telling people about it. About the *food*. It's all about that.Thank you Lumiere for giving us such a good time. And thank you to our children for such a lovely gift.

Since lumière achieving a Michelin Star, it was so dam hard getting a table booked for 1.. Weeks & months passed, and i found a slot for lunch time! And boy i was dam happy and excited at getting a table and my first visit to this place.. Having been to Cheltenham once going to that other Michelin restaurant, this time the restaurant was at the other side of Cheltenham! Which was a blessing as you could look at the massive architectural buildings that Cheltenham has... The restaurant is sort of easy to find! I did walk past it a few times ! As the outside sign is a little small... Inside the restaurant is just the right size, not to big and not to small! Just the right size for a good Interment service.. And i could now see why i had a problem in the past getting a table when they achieved Michelin Status... Then it was time for the food.. Obviously it was a taster menu ? but first the canapé nibbles come out, which all was a delightful blessing... a taramasalata, coronation Chicken & Truffled 'mac & cheese' all 3 was banging and started to make me feel excited to what's next to come.. The the sourdough bread was next.. and that is an excellent sourdough!! Brilliant bake.. Then it was the next course, which was Severn & wye smoked eel & Maris Piper! This was top notch ? the potato was so divine and rich.. Line Caught Cornish Day Boat Sea Bass was next, the Bass was perfectly cooked with a cracking crispy skin ! The sauce was leaving me wanting more ! A very tasty dish this.. Next was a Creedy Carver Duck dish.. and when this come out i wasn't expected what it was going look like! Thought it was going to be a piece of dust breast with other things. But this made me more happy when i looked at it... with slices of fine breast, and this magical thing that was duck liver Parfait & White Chocolate! Now that White Chocolate & liver Parfait was Inspirational!! Who would of thought White Chocolate & liver Parfait works brilliant together! The whole dish just work excellent. Now it was the time for the palate cleanser.. Which yet again was spellbinding! Tequila Slammer.. and this was literally spot on what it tasted like.. Then next up is one of my favourite meats, Venison, hen of the Woods with celeriac & black Truffle.. Literally every on this Venison plate is what i enjoy in life.. another amazing dish yet again! And that Venison with celeriac & Truffle was worth coming to the restaurant for.. And then we move over to the sweet hour.. Conference Pear & valrhona Chocolate with honey Truffle was literally sweet heaven! Even the look of this dessert was delicious.. Then it was a perfect made Damson Souffle! Which the Damsons was family locally picked! An absolute cracker of a soufflé.. Then to end a delicious lunch was the finely made petit Fours! And every single one was just tastefully great... I can see why lumière grained it's star ! And how hard was it for me to get a table after it was awarded it... but boy it was worth the wait! The flight of wine was great with it as well .. it was worth Travelling to the restaurant for this lunch and will be popping back soon...

This was my first time in a Michelin star restaurant. I was worried about feeling a bit out of place but the staff were brilliant and made me feel really comfortable.Where do I start with the food!!! I've seen a lot of masterchef and always thought they were talking nonsense about the "experience" but it was just that. It was fun, it was challenging and very enjoyable. I was pushed to the limits with taste. Taste is of course subjective but the varied flavours across the 8 course menu will have something anyone would love. If you don't get to try the coronation chicken canapé or the tequila slammer you need to go back when it's on the menu. Just fantastic!!! It's worth noting I always worried I wouldn't be full with the small dishes you see on these chef shows, but this wasnt the case at all. I left very satisfied and happy!! If you're fussy stick to macdonalds!! If you enjoy food, haven't eaten in a place like this before and want a true experience. Then get a table booked!!All of this came at an incredibly reasonable price to, which is always nice. We will be back.Oh and if you don't mind wine get the wine menu to go with the meals, that blew my mind. I'm not a fan of white normally and stick to one type of red. But having wines picked to match the food was an experience in its self.

Too many highlights to list on the 8 course tasting menu and the wine pairings were excellent, that said - duck parfait encased in white chocolate was a unctuous and very moorish , as was the venison served with Cavalo Nero, Hen of the Woods, Celeriac, Wiltshire Truffle and jus. A combo that may sound somewhat pedestrian, but this was as good as it gets - delicious!!

It was just perfect - incredible food, lovely, warm staff, great music and atmosphere. We loved reading the in-depth menu and discovering all the ingredients that were in our dishes and how they were sourced and cooked.

This wasn't just a meal out, it was an amazing experience and wonderful way to celebrate my husband's birthday. We chose the 8 course option and Luke had the wine pairing too (I wish I'd gone for the soft pairing now as it was so clever!!)I was expecting the food to be good but it was above good. It was interesting, challenging and even emotional! We were talking about it all the way home and still talking about it this morning. The staff were also phenomenal. That perfect balance of professional and knowledgeable but with personality!!I really enjoyed being able to read more about the ingredients and the sustainability.I thought some of the ideas on the plates were genius! Chicken butter folks!!!!!Highly recommend, looking forward to returning.

An exquisite, tasty, beautiful six course vegetarian lunch. As always, quite lovely and surprising.

We had a great meal at Lumiere. The food was excellent. The attention to detail was outstanding. Each dish contained a little surprise or flourish to keep up the interest, the perfectly balanced spice/sharp/sweet chutney with the smoked duck, the buttery unctuous mushroom with the venison, the phenomenal yogurt ice with the soufflé and the creamy crack of the chocolate accompanying the duck mousse. Front of house was friendly and welcoming without stuffiness or pretension. The paperless tablets offering detail on the dishes without the uncomfortable speech that customarily accompanies each course. I look forward to eating there again.

If you can afford to pay for exceptional food, Lumiere is the place to eat. For 3 of us having the 6 course menu it set me back £370, including a tip and half a bottle of wine for my guests - they weren't very thirsty and I don't drink alcohol. To describe the food as anything other than sublime art would be an understatement - every dish is executed with a degree of finesse where it is clear that the chef has touched everything on the plate. Every ounce of flavour is teased out to render the food subtle, clever, delicious and tender. Each mouthful is a delight, depending on what you have combined on your fork, and while the servings could never be described as generous, you will leave this restaurant feeling very satisfied. As a GF vegetarian, I was well looked after and I simply did not know that the veggies I ate could ever taste so good. The restaurant is posh, with very carefully selected cutlery, crockery and glassware, and service is attentive, friendly and helpful. There isn't a specific dish I could point at as the best, and my guests assured me that their food was even better than mine (a number of my dishes required modification) but I did eat the best gluten free bread I have ever tasted - a course on its own. We will not be regulars as my wallet isn't big enough but what a lovely treat, and we will be back for a special occasion.

One of the most perfect evenings you can get.Helen and Mia and Matthew the sommelier were welcoming, friendly hosts. At this end of the scale, service can edge into cold or pretentious - it absolutely was not and was more like being welcomed into someone's home. The food was absolutely superb. Each course better than the last, with top notch ingredients, balanced and considered flavour and texture and a good variety, all immaculately presented.I was particularly impressed with the soft drink version of a wine flight, allowing interesting, paired flavours across courses for non-drinkers. So nice to not have to stick to water!

Fabulous. The service from Helen and Mia was second to none all night. The food was amazing. We chose the 8 course tasting menu, and every single thing tasted wonderful. We really enjoyed the extra info about the restaurant and the dishes we were served on the table. A super nice touch was the soft drink flight for the driver of the party, as well as the lovely English wine.

We went this evening for the tasting menu. The food was amazing, such thought, care and inspiration is clearly demonstrated by their food. The staff are friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. The wine pairing perfectly complemented the food. I would highly recommend and look forward to going again.Dietary restrictions: I have a citrus intolerance which I had confirmed prior to my visit, they were extremely accommodating and varied the dishes where they could. It was very appreciated.
