This is a wonderful place to have a drink, it’s dripping with old world charm. The landlord was very friendly offering a range none mainstream beers, the organic wheat beer is amazing. We went here twice over the weekend highly recommended.

An absolutely splendid place to have lunch, this pub has oldie worldie character and charm on the outside and inside, there are many rooms and little nooks where you can eat with log fires ? burning and very friendly, helpful and polite staff. The building is clean well decorated, cleaning well presented, the meals are absolutely excellent well presented, hot and really tasty and delicious. With high quality and a generous helpings and at very reasonable prices. We were a party of 4 and none of us had been to this pub before, but we were so impressed all of us would visit again and would highly recommend a visit and a meal here.Top Marks to the owners and staff for a job well done and Thank you all.

Checking out spots for lunch in central G, struck conversation with young (female) employee about the food and drink situation, having visited a few years ago for drinks and sat in garden. Variety of food options and drink, love stouts, and remembering it was a calm and cosy pub, which I love, what with me being a youngish, old man. Sat at table 14, the perfect seat, but other areas really nice too.Food, Catch of Day was ample and well cooked, 1700 calories no less. Stout was as is, they offer others, bottled imperial stouts etc. To get full experience had sticky toffee pud, which was ample and served with ice cream. Overall, enjoyed my lunch, left as full as can be. Wont be eating today. If I had my special lady friend with me, I'd happily have shared. Also nice facilities, and a lot of space.

Popped in for a drink only. Deceptive in its size, with a range of rooms inside , at least 1 with an open fire. Like many places, a lack of staff hampers full operation. But a nice atmosphere, & cosy.

Enjoyed a very pleasant lunchtime meal. Simple yet tasty food, very welcoming staff and a lovely open fire to warm ourselves (freezing cold outside at the time!). This old building has been restored to an extremely high standard so quite special to sit inside. Recommended.

Fantastic, quiet, beautiful place. Interesting art on the stairwell. Perfect place for an evening together. Nicely restored old wooden beams.

Absolutely beautiful place, lovely historical building and the food was the best iv had in a long time, the fish and chips was the best iv ever had. Delicious. Couldn’t recommend it enough and will definitely be going back.

further to the comments from the gentleman below Henry we are not a homophomic establishment we have many friends who are gay who come here and we have a conversation with we also have a large group in every Tuesday from the LGBT community who occupy 2 of our rooms for a games night further more the people mentioned in the gentleman's comments about us selling drugs is utter nonsense we do not know these people

Lovely food but the whole pub smells of old cooking oil. We left over an hour ago and we smell like we have been in a fryer.

Called in for early lunch on Saturday. It was warm and festive, with roaring open fires. The staff were friendly and the food and beer were jyst what we wanted. Will definitely visit again.Kid-friendliness: There was a large family group in the room with us. High chairs were plentiful.
