We arrived to a warm welcome and were delighted how this enchanting, beautifully decorated old pub looked and felt . The host and the staff were excellent and looked after us so well even though it was very busy . The food was outstanding quality and so well presented, we will definitely be back again to try more from the menu. Nothing was too much trouble for them. My friend stayed in the cottage next door which was spotless , beautifully decorated, spacious very comfortable and very well equipped. The perfect venue for a fabulous weekend away , surrounded by stunning countryside so no need to go anywhere else. Thank you .

First time for us for Sunday lunch and my wife’s birthday with two friends . Good interesting menu. Well cooked and presented cosy pub atmosphere.The host was very welcoming and service was good with one tiny exemption in the serving of a Gin and Tonic. The tonic was added to the Gin by our server. My wife prefers to add her own. A minor issue and it did not detract from the overall experience. I’m sure we’ll go again . As will our two friends .

We went to cheer up a dark January and it was totally top notch. Delicious food, wine and drinks. Lovely friendly service and super surroundings. We will definitely go again.

AMAZING! We stayed away for a few nights in October and booked this as our top find for our special Saturday night evening meal. We were not disappointed! Everything was amazing, from the welcoming staff, great atmosphere, beautiful quaint interior to the 'out of this world' delicious food.... it was the perfect evening. We love eating out throughout the country when we stay away and this is now in our all time top places. Highly recommended and we would love to eat here again.Jo-Anne you were such a perfect host and your business, food and staff are fantastic.

A really lovely looking pub in this beautiful village with the exterior lit up for Christmas. The restaurant was busy and the service was excellent. The food was lovely; some lovely inventive dishes with local ingredients, on a small but adequate list of menu options. Meat and fish were both excellent and beautifully cooked, apart from a very tough sirloin steak which was difficult to cut from the off (!) and then noticed it had a rather large tendon running through it. Unfortunate really, but having had to pay £32 for this means I won’t return. Everything else was really lovely. Many reviews on here seem to refer to this pub as having a Michelin star. It’s worth noting that this is not the case and that the pub appears in the Michelin Guide. Two very different things.

Absolutely lovely country pub with friendly staff, great atmosphere and excellent food!My duck wasn't that pink because I asked for it that way, and it was excellent.We may even consider coming to stay in their annex some weekend, we'll definitely be back to eat again. :)

I was treated to this beautiful pub with exquisite food for my Christmas present. I was fortunate to have been booked in to the lovely cottage right next door too!Jo-anne was so welcoming and made us feel at ease. The atmosphere in the pub was truly lovely along with the staff that worked here. We were spoilt for choice from what the menu had to offer. I don't think it was possible to make a bad choice!The cottage that we stayed was wonderful, we were able bring our little dog too, he thoroughly enjoyed himself here too. The bed was so comfortable and we were provided with absolutely everything we needed.I would highly recommend it!

Fantastic supper with great service just what was required after a long drive. Lots of locally sourced food- venison - quinces etc. Beer was delicious too.

Returned for the first time in almost 10 years. Similar experience as before. Beautiful location, lovely old building, excellent food. Seriously very good. For us the night felt rushed a bit , no time between courses, uncomfortable due to the seating arrangement, down light in our face; and a special night for us came to an end as we decided to head home early. Food excellent. Meat cook perfectly pink and delicious accompanying veg. Very talented chef. Just, for us, the atmosphere/experience of the night again didn't amount to a romantic/cosy night.
