Came here for a family Sunday lunch. Although the pub is tucked away, it is very popular. There is a reasonably sized car park but it filled up quickly, so try to get an early table if possible (when we left, people were double parked). Staff were friendly and welcoming, food came quickly. There is also a play area for kids and outdoor seating for when the weather warms up. Recommended.Food & drinks: Portions are generous so it would be best to have a starter (or two) if you have a small appetite. They had vegan options for starters and mains and three vegan options for dessert (two vegan ice creams and a sorbet).

I had the pleasure of calling in during a recent cycle audax .Lovely pub, great coffee and bacon rolls..
Visited last weekend for a Sunday lunch and was more than surprised. Me and my partner went for the beef Sunday lunch and it was amazing. Worth every penny alongside great starters. Would highly recommend.

Great location, lots for the kids, very friendly service and outstanding food. The only problem we had was a long wait for food. The Ship Inn is on the right at the corner of the road c1950s. On October 27th 1834 John King, shopkeeper, bought the land at the edge of the canal and built two dwelling houses. On December 2nd 1850 John King made a will in which one house is referred to as the Ship Inn with tenant Thomas Bailey.

Food & drinks: Large portions. We had whitebait as a starter. Heavily battered but piping hot. Enormous portions. We couldn't finish them so share 1 between 2 people. Pork belly was tasty option. Liver and bacon was tasty but far too much potato underneath leaving little sauce. Must be great in summer when outdoor area is open. Main bar area welcoming but other areas stark. Need a car.
