Pubs in Stow On The Wold

“The atmosphere was friendly and the service was excellent. I had a perfectly nice pub lunch (puffed pastry over beef with peas and chips) and a pint of local ale. As a tourist, I went in looking for a good English pub experience and left happy and satisfied.”

“Great food, lovely staff, very pleasant atmosphere which changes through the evening as it becomes darker and busier (positive).Great to see high quality kids food rather than cheap rubbish. My sons burger was outstanding. My desert was tremendous.”

“We called in on a very busy Saturday lunchtime and had to wait for a table, but it was worth it. The food was good but the waitress that served us even better. What a star Carol is! Running around the place picking up the slack that some other, more forgetful staff were creating - all with a smile on her face and a lovely disposition. Thanks to her, we had a lovely afternoon. Definitely a keeper! We'll be back”

“Popped in for lunch and a gin. Had to write a review to point out the excellent kitchen and serving staff. I was watching the food being carefully put onto plates, being adjusted until perfect. Lunchtime was busy but he didn't waver. Excellent! New staff, well done to you all.”

“As pubs go in England, you won’t find an older hostelry than this. Quite amazing how it’s retained lots of its character. Looks like an amalgamation of several buildings over the centuries so on a split level. A couple of Brakspear ales on cask to savour whilst you take in the stunning surroundings.”
