The Old Bakery Tea Room

We had a wonderful experience at The Old Bakery Tearoom. My 20yr old sons and myself were in Stow-on-the-Wold on a family trip. Both of my boys have talked about the owner of the tea room the entire trip. The food was wonderful and fresh, definitely made with love! The gluten-free scones and homemade jam were superb! One of my sons had a sandwich and salad that he said was out of this world as well. Not only was the food good, but what made the stop the most memorable was how personable and attentive the owner was. He made each of my boys feel like an intentional guest. He shared stories with us from his time as a farmer, and his love for music and leading worship.
Taking the time to be so intentional with customers along with an amazing menu makes this stop a MUST on your trip to the Cotswolds.

Cotswold Baguettes

Some of the best sandwiches (and a scotch egg) we’ve ever had - many options, delicious and generous fillings, everything super fresh, baguettes exactly the right size and texture, lovely staff. Very highly recommended.

The Hive

Absolutely stonking spot for a great breakfast. Went every day on the days we were away. And catered for coeliac with proper artisanal bakery made gluten free bread for my wife. Thoroughly recommended.

Queens Head Inn

Good quality traditional English pub here. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food. Ordered the specialty Steak and Donnington Ale pie and it didn't disappoint. The David Moore royal sausages and deep fried whole tail scampi were delicious ?.

Stow Town Coffee

Simply the best coffee, and favored by locals, where Dave and Alison blend and roast the artisan beans right before your eyes, and nose! It’s a walk-up service, tucked in just off Sheep Street. The coffee is aromatic, rich, and delicious, the delicious local milk is highly regarded, the service is stellar, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get a tail wag from Ringo!

The Old Stocks Inn

This is one of the most amazing hotels/restaurants we have visited ❤️. The staff are friendly and wonderful and NOTHING is too much trouble. We are regular visitors.

Food & drinks: Reasonably priced and of the highest standard.

This was a very good chippy visit, with two clear standouts: the fish and the curry sauce.

The fish scored 40.5/45 and was easily the best part of the meal: beautifully fresh, moist, flaky, and cooked in exceptionally clean oil with no greasy heaviness at all. The fish-to-batter ratio was excellent, and the flavor was strong throughout. The only real drawback was that the batter, while very good, wasn’t maximally crisp, and part of it stuck badly to the paper, forcing me to scrape some of it off with my fingers. I did that happily, which says a lot.

The chips scored 30/35. They were fresh, fluffy inside, generous, and clearly fried in very clean oil, but they lacked exterior crispness and consistency. Good chips, but not great chips.

Packaging came in at 6/10. Steam management was fairly good, and the chips survived the trip well, but the paper adhesion issue hurt the best part of the meal and made it messier to eat than it should have been.

Sauces scored 8/10, with the curry sauce absolutely fantastic and one of the highlights of the whole visit. Tartare was standard Heinz, which is fine but not exciting.

I also tried several extras for an extras bonus of +3.9/5. The burger was very good and had excellent flavor, but it needed some acidity like mustard, and the bun would have been much better toasted. The mushy peas were fresh and tasty, and with a little added salt at home rose to about 8.5/10. The fried sausage was cooked extremely well, though the sausage itself was a bit bland.

Overall: a strong chippy I’d happily return to. Go for the fish, get the curry sauce, and hope they sort out the paper issue.

Coach House Coffee

Excellent range of Vegan treats. Very nice to see. Jaffa cake one was great. Nice seating (including cushioned seats near window) and relaxing environment. There is also baby changing facilities, water jug and glasses out for humans on the first floor and a bowl for doggos out front. There's even a top floor I didn't go to with more seating (closed on this quiet Wednesday afternoon, which is reasonable). I'd suggest an air freshener for bathroom but there's not many ways to improve here.

The Golden Ball Inn

This pub was recommended to me, and I am so glad I made the trip. I went for the mixed game pie, and my partner had a roast beef platter. Both were polished off easily.

Excellent service, friendly staff, amazing food, and lovely building. Lovely pair of seats by the fire. Dog friendly too.

Would highly recommend for a sunday dinner in the Cotswolds.

The Bell

Had a lovely anniversary dinner, food was delicious, we received a nice surprise from the kitchen when we order pudding. Maisie and Wilmer provided us with a great service and i would really recommend coming here!

We were well looked after during our short stay. Our room was lovely and the staff helpful and friendly. Excellent cooked breakfast in the morning! We hope to be back.

Sheep on Sheep Street

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you Amy and your team for accommodating our group of 56 on Sunday.

Compliments to the chef , the food  was absolutely delicious , (especially the roast puddings!!) the service was excellent , you run a slick operation everything went smoothly for a big cover like that our appreciation to all involved .

Pre order organisation and table planning was very professional and there was plenty of menu choice especially for vegetarians. We were mainly opting for roast dinners .

On arrival there were a number of staff waiting for and expecting us and were fully conversed with the meal plan.

A table plan on the bar was a nice touch and helped the group be seated correctly and quickly. The food came out hot and at the same time.

As I said the meal was delicious and that is coming from the children as well as the adults in the party. The roast lamb especially had great feed back.

The roast dinners were a good size for both adults and children. I’d recommend a side or 2 of veg /pigs n blankets to accompany. The Roasts are a bit on the pricy side but you get what you pay for quality and quantity.

Clean plates all around!!

The Talbot

Great staff and good food. The service was excellent and welcoming. The only downside is the interior — it lacks traditional pub character. Modern furniture feels out of place and slightly spoils the atmosphere, though I’m not a professional designer.

The Kings Arms

We had a lovely Mother’s Day meal here today, with delicious food and friendly service. We had two dogs with us so I requested a table out of the way, and we were seated at an alcove/booth table to the right of the door. This was one of the most dog friendly seating options we have ever come across, and it was perfect for helping us keep our dogs out of the way and relaxed while in a busy environment. It helped us enjoy our visit so much more, and we were really impressed. We’ll definitely be back when we’re next in Stow-on-the-Wold!

Prince of India

We eat in and had takeaways from here multiple times for as long as I remember. Still as good as 8 years ago. Paswari nan the best and mashroom rice and all the curries.

Lucy's Tearoom

Lovely little tea room. We had a light lunch, toastie and Rarbit. They offer a lovely selection of loose tea. We watched others enviously, as they ordered what looked like delicious cream tea....maybe next time

Lovely location for lunch, we had the arancini, caesar wrap and wagyu burger
Everything was delicious and Richard’s service was amazing!

Jade Garden

Stayed for a few days in Stow and decided have a takeaway one evening.
The service was really friendly and very quick and the food was lovely. The shredded crispy beef was particularly good. Would definitely recommend and go there again.

Huffkins Stow

I placed an online order on Tuesday 29th July 2025 for delivery on Thursday 31 July 2025. Throughout the day DPD kept saying they hadn't received the order. I emailed on 4 occasions and only got a response to the last one blaming DPD. Why weren't customers notified if DPD failed to collect? Not impressed. I had requested a refund and afterwards got an email to confirm despatch! I am still waiting for a response regarding a refund a day later. NOT a company who has a modicum of Customer Service.
