A great local with food that's well worth travelling for! One of the best pub meals we've had. They were busy with a large local group in, they explained this would mean a wait, but we are glad we waited.

We were so lucky to get a table here; they had a cancellation and rang us back. The beer food and service were exceptional and I am very much looking forward to going back. Huge compliments to Trish and Nial for a fantastic Pub.

While staying in the area, we came here after reading the great reviews and we were not disappointed! Everything here is just outstanding. Trish took time to explain the whole menu to us in detail, all of the staff were very attentive and provided 5* service. We all said it was up there with the best food we had eaten, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. A lovely atmosphere and felt very cosy with the fireplace on. I highly recommend coming here if you're in the area.

To think that I can be blown away by a seemingly simple dish like a burger makes me feel obligated to leave a review. I ordered a Madeira sauce fir my chips, as I'm not into ketchup or mayo and this just took it to another level. My partner had steak with peppercorn sauce and the quality was amazing. It's been years since we have had food on this level. We were surprised with the other places in the area which were all fully booked and the food was not up to the same standard. No wonder The Royal Oak has 4.8 stars.Perfect Guinness poured and such friendly staff!! Can't wait for the next visit! ?
Amazing, intimate pub. Felt like we found a hidden gem on our travels Great little touches and super friendly staff.

Had an exemplary, tasty roast with friends. Friendly attentive staff. Roast carved at your table and generous portions, perfectly cooked. Will definitely be back.

I live in London and am a big fan of a Sunday roast. The Royal Oak in North Woodchester, Stroud, beats all the competition hands down. Its lovely to see the chef carve at your table and the food is outstanding. Of particular note are the gravy and roast potatoes. Its 1.5 hr from London (Paddington) by train. Woodchester is surrounded by beautiful commons and makes for a perfect day out. It is essential to book.

We stumbled across this little gem on a walk, I have to say the level of customer care is amazing polite, friendly and professional. Sunday lunch was amazing the food didn’t disappoint, upon ordering staff explained the menu offering recommendations, and telling us about the process of the gravy making, and I must say it was the best gravy I’ve eaten out for a very long time. This pub isn’t just about the food, it’s an experience and one we will look forward to again

Just had the most epic Sunday lunch. Highly recommended! Got to try both meats on the trolley and the chef calved it off in front of our table. Extra gravy provided as standard and it's the best gravy I've ever tasted. Great portion sizes too!
Amazing Sunday roast and great
