We stayed here for a week, using it as a base whilst visiting the Cotswolds. It was a lovely place, the staff were all so welcoming and pleasant by the time we left it was as though we'd been friends for ages! The breakfast was freshly made to order with a good choice. The evening menu was small, but we ate there a couple of times and the food was delicious. The only reason I can't give a 5 is because the room we were given was right above the bar and was very noisy until very late, and the outside lights were on each side of the window and weren't turned off til gone midnight! However when we asked to move they happily obliged without a second thought. So just request to not be given room 3 and you'll have a great night's sleep. Also, our trip was part of our honeymoon and we were greeted with candles, rose petals, chocolates, and a Swan on the bed which was a wonderful touch ?

This hotel is a quaint old pub with a very bubbly and pleasant landlady, Sophia. She was a delight to talk to and was happy to help with anything - very impressive for a young lady running a pub/hotel. The ales available were great for me, especially Rev James - goes down very well! The bedroom was clean and with a big comfortable double bed. Plenty of extras and the shower was great. The breakfast was just wow! a big plate full and very tasty indeed. I didnt get to sample any other meals but have no doubt would be of the same high standard. You would not be disappointed when visiting this pub/hotel, either for a drink, meal or accomodation. I wish Sophia all the very best in her endeavors with this lovel village pub. She certainly will do it with a smile!

Rooms impeccably clean, full English breakfast a work of art, although I was stuffed all day. Love the old pub games. Noise from the bar until late but all quiet after that. Can't fault the staff. All good.

We spent two nights here and the hosts Richard and Sofia could not have been more helpful. Great value for money.

I was visiting my aunt who has lived in the village for over fifty years and so she has seen many different landlords of this pub. She hadn't been for a while and was pleasantly surprised. The Royal Oak is a good size pub, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. We were warmly welcomed and attended to. We enjoyed our Cumberland sausage and mash and wonderful fish and chips. Everything seemed to be made to order (a nice change from some pub chains which seem to have a list of processed and microwaveable food) and was delicious. I had tried to look on TripAdvisor for this pub but I saw the food theme as Asian and Thai. This seems to be an old description and is no longer accurate. There is plenty of space and an extensive beer garden with adequate parking at the rear of the property. The pub was advertising live music on a Friday night. Unfortunately, I have returned to Yorkshire so I shall miss that. The pub has a number of screens for displaying sports programmes. I would recommend. Toilets were beautifully decorated and spotless.

Two of us called in recently for a pint and a spot of lunch following a walk around the Bredon countryside. The pub is a proper one offering a couple of pub games (darts and toad-in-the-hole). There is a range of good beers and the ones sampled were on form. The food was tasty and well presented and hit the spot. We were both impressed on how clean the pub was throughout, especially the toilets which can sometimes be a nasty shock, even in the nicest of venues. The young couple running it were charming and are determined to make the pub an important part of village life, with activities to entertain while you enjoy a drink. It's heartening to see a move like this against the trend of closing pubs and removing places to socialise, and I wish them all success,

Sophia and Richard took over the Royal Oak about eight months ago. Since then they have worked hard to turn it into a friendly 'local' where you are always guaranteed to get a warm welcome. Last night we sampled their Christmas menu. Two very warm plates arrived with a good selection of traditional Christmas fare plus a jug of gravy. The result was two clean plates; we ate the lot. The dessert of crumble and custard was equally enjoyable. Beer is always good as well with a good selection on tap. There are also the usual pub events that are well attended. Last night there was a selection of tradition pub games to try your hand at, and brush up on skills you never knew you had. There is also a fortnightly Sunday night quiz. and a monthly folk session that attracts performers from a wide area, with a variety of instruments that even include the occasional hurdy-gurdy and hammer dulcimer. The last folk session of the year I believe is going to be held on the 21st and will have a Christmas theme to the music. Well done to Sophia and Richard for taking on the Royal Oak and turning it into a proper villager pub.

Sophia and her crew accommodated our party of 14, plus a pram, for Sunday lunch. It was a big ask but they coped really well, and went out of their way to make our visit as good as possible. The food was cooked well and very tasty. I wish them every success as they deserve it.

We visited this pub restaurant on a staycation holiday this August and so pleased we did. When we first arrived at the pub we were a bit taken aback as it looked a bit rundown. However when we entered we could not have been welcomed more warmly. The food was absolutely excellent and they catered for gluten free for one of our party who is coeliac. We were served really well. I think the locals round here are phenomenally lucky to have this fabulous takeaway and restaurant on their doorstep. The building could do with some TLC to give it kerbside appeal but cannot fault the food. Absolutely no after effects for our coeliac family member. 5 stars for food and service, only 3 stars for outside appearances.

WOW! Where do I start! As if the food weren’t bad enough, the service, the nerve and the outright disrespect shown by the owner was disgusting. She should have her trading licence taken off her!! Me and my partner were visiting Tewkesbury and ate out here during our stay. We ordered the vegetarian set menu for two and started off with the sharing platter before being served a pad Thai, green Thai curry, sweet and sour and stir fry veg. We sent the food back because it was simply disgusting (with the exception of the pad Thai in fairness). Every dish was served with wrinkly, dried out, rubber tofu which was chewed and then spat out on the plate because it was inedible. The stir fry was served raw with veg hard enough to chip a tooth. It came harder than when it’s picked from the supermarket!! The sweet and sour was anything but. This is where the fun starts. We were accused of eating ‘all’ the food and trying to get away without paying. As you can see from the pictures the food was definitely not eaten. We were accused of lying about the food being disgusting and proceeded to have an argument about being pursued for the full amount of the set menu. We asked for the police to be called, for cctv to be reviewed and for the spat out food on the plate to be looked at!!! To top off the whole experience, the chef came out of the kitchen, started shouting and punching his own hands as if to start a fight with me. Please what ever you do, do not eat at this place no matter what.

What a great little place this is. The food was superb and super reasonable. Same for the wine. We will be back every week. In fact tried To get a table the next week but closed on Tuesdays. Jungle curry was excellent and the spring rolls were so light and tasty.
