Caffe E Vino
78 Church St, TewkesburyMy husband took me here for a surprise Valentine's meal. Excellent service, delicious food and great to speak to a fellow Italian(I'm half Italian) about the country and the wines. I'm quite fussy about Italian restaurants which often don't match expectations. But this one ticks all the boxes!Dietary restrictions: I can't eat onion or garlic ? a tricky diet, but their lemon sauce with the chicken breast was beautifully tasty.

The Yew Tree, Conderton
Main Road, TewkesburyCalled in at lunchtime for the gluten free fish and chips. Delicious crispy batter and lovely thick cut chips. Great that I can take the dog in too. Will be back.Have just returned to the Yew Tree again, this time for an early Christmas lunch. I had slow braised beef and the rest of the party had turkey. Absolutely delicious and gluten free. GF Christmas pudding was also available although I went for the white chocolate and raspberry blondie. Lots of gluten free options; coeliacs just make sure you let the staff know when booking and ordering. The chef is a star at catering for gluten free. ThanksDietary restrictions: Great for gluten free food - just let the staff know your requirements

The Gardeners Arms
Beckford Rd, Alderton, TewkesburyEverything about going to the Gardeners was great.— They accommodated a Saturday lunch booking for 10 adults and nine children at only a few days' notice.— They offered separate tabs when taking pre-order, and kept track of these for drinks and desserts on the day, making paying so simple without the usual faff of splitting the bill.— They put us in a side room which allowed the children room to run around without bothering other customers, yet it was open enough that we still felt part of (even central to) the pub.— Saturdays, they don't charge for each kid's main ordered alongside an adult's (bought) main, a happy surprise for the parents in the group.— The staff were throughly lovely, very efficient, and amazingly deft when navigating children!— And of course: delicious food and drink.Really grateful to the team there.

The Cross House Tavern
108 Church St, TewkesburyIf you like small down to basics pubs, look no further than The Cross House Tavern in tne heart of Tewkesbury, quality straight from the barrel beer & ciders in what can only be described as a real old school pub that has a feeling of a 1930 ealing film set.If you're hungry, there are ham or cheese cobs/rolls, no cooking smells to ruin the beer or atmosphere.

Lower Lode Inn
Bishops Walk Nr Tewkesbury, GloucesterWe loved our visit to this pub and had a swim in the river, which was amazing although a few people had said it was too polluted these days. We took appropriate precautions like not swallowing it and showering in the campsite makeshift showers immediately afterwards. The interior of the pub was interesting and quirky although we called during the recent heatwave so everyone was outdoors on benches overlooking the river. You do need to watch out for the swans. The food was basic but inexpensive. Definitely worth a visit. We walked from Tewkesbury mainly along the river.Walkability: From Tewkesbury during the day it is an easy walk.
