The food is always good. The ale is great. Atmosphere is even better. I won't recommend dishes, because it's subjective, but it's all good.

Visited in the afternoon after considering eating there in the evening. Warm welcome from the staff , good selection of drinks and a nice cosy real fire. Unfortunately , as with many pubs today , dogs are welcome in the bar AND the restaurant. We are totally against animals in dining areas but it's getting to be the norm. Simply because of this we ate elsewhere , which was a shame really but , as I said , I don't think animals should be allowed in restaurants. Many people are allergic to animals but it seems that ( in general ) it is ignored yet , God forbid , if there is a peanut in sight. Sorry Nottingham , would loved to have joined you but....If you don't mind the dogs then I would 100% recommend a visit to this cosy old traditional pub.

Nice pub but Beer choice is all the same not to my taste - Update, since the new Landlady took over the Ale choice and condition of the Ale has vastly improved i am pleased to say.

Lovely pub full of character, highly recommend the Sunday lunch.
4 of us + a dog popped in on a Friday afternoon. Lovely quirky pub, friendly and attentive staff, great food, good sized portions and realistic prices. Would definitely call in again.

Proper pub feel, friendly service and really good food. Dog friendly too. Only went in as had faggots on special and we weren't disappointed. Would definitely recommend. Unfortunately forgot to take a picture of faggots so here's one of Bob our greyhound ?
