Billingsgate is a wholesale fish market for fishmongers, restaurant owners and others , but it is actually open to the public too.Prices are almost half of what you'd pay at a fishmongers, but to be fair, fishmongers do fillet and sell prepared pieces. Good to buy a fresh fish and learn things about seafood. Must go early (about 4am) to enjoy nice pices there. The Old Billingsgate is easily accessible by tube, bus, train, and taxi. The nearest tube station is Monument. The Billingsgate market is a 5 minute drive from London Bridge and 15 minutes away from the West End.

Cheap priced seafoods in London, buy by piece , by kilo or by box, you will be glad to buy in bulk! Too many to choose from, we came at 4am, and amazed with the selections! Bring Cash!

They have switched to an app to pay for parking. I have used other parking apps which has user friendly interface and easy to use, the app they have at Billingsgate is absolute rubbish. It didn't work after multiple attempts. They have a number to ring as an alternative and that didn't work either.

This is the place to go when you want fresh fish. Open early and closes early with a large selection of frozen and mainly fresh seafood.£3.5 parking charge

Very busy before Chrismas so hard to find parking.

Very busy on the day before Christmas. Hundreds of cars, parking is a nightmare. As always big choice of the fish and shellfish. Biggest disappointment - lack of wild products. Probably 99% are caged/farm fish. I will not be going there again, preferably I will be driving to a fishing village and try my luck there.

It was my first time there, plenty of choices, and in the end, you can have a nice coffee and breakfast. Toilets available. Can park for 2 hours maximum at a cheap price of £3.50.

My wife with Najwa & Atiq went to this Seafood Market at 5:00 am, and I obviously didnt want to follow. Apparently, they were quite late already, as the market starts business at 4:00 am!!But what a bountiful harvest did they come back with!! I was very plesantly surprise to find two fully grown lobsters in the kitchen, along with some huge prawns and fresh calimari...I guess tis' the time for seafood dishes this coming christmas...

I normally go on a Saturday morning, a few times a year, but I tried Wednesday this time. I arrived at 5am. It was very busy. There are still bargains to be had, but the market is becoming expensive.Parking is now controlled by park&go, so bring your mobile phone as the parking meters don't work. I stayed for around 1/2 an hour, because I knew what I wanted. If it's your first time walk around all the stalls before buying, to gauge the prices. No trolleys are allowed in the market, so if you do bring one you can leave it outside in a trolley bay and collect it later. No children are allowed in the market either.Happy fishing

I went here on a Saturday around 6am (which is quite late - some shops were closing) but still had a chance to find some good fish with a good price. Go earlier on a weekday if you want the best ones - they sell out very quicklyDon’t get off on Poplar station (Elizabeth line) get off at Canary Wharf please it might seem as there aren’t much a difference geographically but it’s so inconvenient from Poplar since you need to walk around extra 15min to get thereI would recommend to bring a bag for the fish since some shops give you transparent bags and you wouldn’t want to carry a orange salmon around in central London

The best place to buy fish and seafood in London is at a bustling market hall where a wide variety of aquatic delights are on offer. Billingsggate Market is definitely THE hub for traders who sell everything that swims or crawls in saltwater or freshwater. Select from dozens and dozens of stands and booths. Here's a tip: Arrive early because the freshest and finest items tend to sell out quickly. Bring cash for your purchases, wear practical footwear that can handle a bit of the wet mess, and carry watertight bags or boxes to transport your seafood haul. You can conveniently reach this market from the Canary Wharf Jubilee station, which is a 12-minute walk away, or via the Elizabeth Line. Additionally, there is ample parking space available right at the market hall for those arriving by car.

A totally unique London experience. Billingsgate market has been here since 1982 and not much has changed since then. It's a lovely time warp with wholesale fish sellers with masses of freshly landed fish for sale. It doesn't get much fresher than this. Also astoundingly cheap: a massive whole salmon, half a kilo of samphire and 8 scallops for less than £40. Beware that most of the fish here will require gutting etc. although some stalls will have done it for you already. Wear warm clothes, wellies recommended and don't wear anything you mind getting a tiny bit fishy. Enjoy this while you can, the whole market is moving to Dagenham in 2027.

Come here early on, plan to reach here before 5, amazing selection of fish to choose from. They mostly only take cash so come prepared with it. We took salmon, some cod and a kilo of prawns. Very fresh and they tasted amazing

Come around 6AM, as by 6:30 soem stalls will be wrapping up already.Despite what Internet says, at least some of the stalls accept credit cards now.Be prepared that all fish come with heads, and although salmon was cleaned, I had to clean the parrot fish myself. But then, that's the first time I've see parrot fish sold in London.

Fresh seafood with reasonable price. We arrived there at 420am, lots of choices but I believe we can go there at 520am next time as I didn’t see it empty when we left.
