Asian food place. Varied and delicious dishes, although quite spicy. Not recommended for intolerant or non-spicy lovers. Price according to quality.

Amazed of how traditional the restaurant it.The waitress was nice and answered all the questions we had about the food, and explained to us the special for the day.The aged beef was totally worth the visit, and I couldn't have enough.Absolutely to try the fried chicken. Not a fan of the monster bao, I prefered the Duck. They also have a takeaway option, great, but the menu is limited to the bao practically. It's a bit overpriced for the size portion

It would have been better if the dishes I ordered had arrived together. First I got the spicy cabbage which was tasty , then got the short rib bao bun about 10 minutes later and then finally the courgette rice which tastes mostly of soy sauce. Food was good, the dishes were almost good enough to eat alone but would be much better together. The Horlicks ice cream bao bun wasn't too sweet. I got the grape aloe drink , I didn't like the taste of the foam on top but drink was nice (but very sweet). Service could be a little quicker - Although staff were very polite.

Bao never disappoints, I’ve been to a few of their locations now. I went on a date and we both ordered off the vegan menu. We were both hungry and shared 2 smoked aubergine dishes (my favorite), glazed tofu, mapo tofu, 2 Bao, 2 chocolate sorbet Bao, and one drink (£32 each). Make sure to book a table ahead of time as they get very busy. It’s a small space and it can get quite loud and service can be a little slow but overall it’s a great experience. The decor and branding is super cute and of course the food is incredible.Vegetarian options: When you tell the staff that you are vegan they’ll bring a vegan menu. There was only one main Bao option but plenty of appetizers.

Excellent chicken bao, the chicken was so crispy but melted in your mouth! We set at a small table with other customers but we only wanted to try the bao so we were in and out quickly. I recommend booking. Will come back to try the other dishes.

Our visit to BAO's Borough Market location on a quiet Wednesday evening left us with mixed feelings. Having heard rave reviews about this renowned establishment, we were eager to sample their famed Taiwanese steamed buns.Opting for a quick snack, we ordered two baos to go at the pick-up window, missing out on the opportunity to experience the bustling atmosphere and dine-in service. However, the flavors of the baos were undeniably great, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to authentic Taiwanese cuisine.Yet, our enthusiasm was dampened by the size of the portions. While the flavors impressed, the tiny portions left much to be desired, especially considering the hefty price tag. At £8 per bun, the value proposition seemed skewed, particularly when comparing it to similar offerings in cities like New York and Taipei. As seasoned travelers with a palate for Taiwanese cuisine, we couldn't help but feel that the size didn't justify the price. While we appreciate the quality of ingredients and the effort put into crafting each bao, the overall dining experience left us feeling somewhat underwhelmed. In summary, while BAO's Borough Market location offers flavorful and authentic Taiwanese buns, the high prices and small portions detract from the overall dining experience. With a more reasonable pricing strategy, BAO could undoubtedly elevate its appeal to a wider audience. As it stands, we would likely skip this place on future visits, awarding it a modest 2 out of 5 stars.

One of the nicest meals I've had in a while, we came on a Saturday night and got to sit at the bar, which was really interesting to watch and do recommend. We tried just about everything on the menu and loved all of it. My dish of the evening was the beef and rice.I can't wait till next time!
