Can’t recommend the Axe and Clever enough!!! Cozy atmosphere. Great food and drinks and the staff (Neil Alyson and Sam) couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommended ??

Just called in for evening snack as wife is ina meeting in the same venue. Decided to have a grilled chicken burger off the new menu, as always the food is excellent and the service by Paul is brilliant. We'll done again to all the staff, for making us special. Again I highly recommend the Axe &Cleaver.Paul & Pat

Love this place, nice to go somewhere that has table service, too many "order at the bar" Pubs nowadays, and also no screaming kids ! ? Food and service always good, can't fault it at all !

We came in after being at a funeral on the 1st MarchThe waitress was rude, when we asked if we could sit anywhere we were told to sit on two tables only even though the pub wasn't that busy. We asked if they did sandwiches as that was all we wanted to be told no this is the menu and this is what we do. It was as if the waitress either didn't want to be there. It was a shame cos we had been told how amazing it is but unfortunately it wasn't the experience we received

Overall we made it a good experience by making light of the hugely frosty reception. Everything else was good, food was great but the atmosphere when we arrived and when we were being served was a little tense to say the least.

Unfortunately mother's day lunch wasn't very good, 3 people order sirloin of beef, it was tough and chewy, we did complain and the waitress brought us some alternative meats turkey and pork which was fine but not what we ordered. Roast potatoes where deep fried, peas like bullets and no roast parsnips.dtiffing was cold just not nice and when you pay ,£27 per person it's not good.Given a non alcoholic cider, didn't ask for that. Just spoilt the day, everything just seemed to much as if they had taken too many bookings, are table was late, took ages to clear plates.

Overall fantastic food & service. Served by Paul & Mia - nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely return & highly recommend anyone looking for tasty food & a great atmosphere.
Had a wonderful celebratory lunch for my mother in law s 80th birthday .Everyones meal was delicious .Good portions. Value for money. Especially the steak and lamb....lovely dessert to wish her a Happy Birthday. Lovely staff. Would recommend for home cooked food.

We had 2 young children and one was a bit disruptive, the staff were very accommodating and friendly, service was super quick and the food was lovely, I had crab starter and a chicken burger and both were brilliant. Would definitely recommend!Kid-friendliness: Staff were great with the kids!
