I went to The Harewood Arms with my assistance dog and initially everyone was very welcoming and non-confrontational. However, I was then told that she had to be put in a muzzle. Legally, there is no requirement for assistance dogs in the UK to wear a muzzle. As such, I was greatly shocked by the harassment we experienced after my AD did a medical alert. Similarly, there is no law stating that vocal alerts are not permitted, so a ‘woof!’ to alert me to a medical emergency is not something that would require a muzzle. In fact, a muzzle would prevent her from being able to alert, so that would defeat the objective of her being present. As such, telling us to leave not once but twice was an example of disability harassment and direct discrimination under the Equality Act 2010. Ironically, there was a child present who was wailing its head off the entire time we were there, but that noise did not appear to bother anyone. By contrast, one ‘woof!’ for a medical alert was treated as threatening and we were told to leave.

I recently visited the Harewood Arms pub in Wakefield and was pleasantly surprised by their new interior refresh. The modern touches and updated decor really improve the atmosphere of the pub, making it a much more inviting space. The food and drink selection is also impressive, with a great variety of options to choose from. Overall, the Harewood Arms is a fantastic pub and the new interior refresh is a welcome addition.
Just one of most amazig pubs I've been, people, music, smiles, love and drinks.

The best music night in Wakefield! Thursday night is where it’s at. John the landlord goes out of his way to please his customers and real ale is only £2.50 a pint!
