Disappointed in the food. My Hunters chicken was too well done as cheese burnt on top and hard to

We stopped for lunch from our walk of the local area to find a remote village pub in a picturesque setting. Once through the entrance you are met with a small central bar surrounded on three sides by two seating areas and a games room. A very pleasant layout. Three cask ales on offer, the first sampled was not good and quickly returned and exchanged for one of the other ales which I'm happy to say was excellent. Small but sufficient menu of mainly pub grub. The day we visited 3 dishes were unavailable but we ate heartily anyway. Friendly staff and locals. This would have been five stars were it not let down by the first poor pint. Definitely worth another visit.

Went for a Saturday lunch with my wife. I had tuna sandwich on granary, which to their credit was really nice, hence the two stars. My wife’s burger was horrible, really cheap, floured soggy bun and a slab of cold Stilton on it. She left most of it. Shame, this used to be a lovely spot.

great little pub and restaurant and good and plain but good fooda must for people who want something really old world
As good as always. The mussels were lovely to start with but the sea bass was sublime. A generous portion and beautifully cooked with lovely fondant potatoes and extra fries ... yum ... sadly the cheeseboard wasn't available.

The food was not well presented, over cooked and expensive for what it was. Small portions. Won't be coming back or recommend, sad as many pubs are closing. Could be so much better.

Friendly welcome and good service. Only criticism is a few of the menu items were unavailable and on a small menu, this really did limit choice. I would say the food is no frills pub grub.

Really sad to be writing this in light that many pubs are closing. Our meal was really poor. Very expensive starters which were over cooked. Plate of Nachos was a side plate of flat nachos with creme fraiche and salsa. Not typically heaped up to the plate where you can't eat it all. Mains - average - vegetables were soggy. Such a shame. Oh I forgot the presence of dogs. A couple sniffing around our table - kept barking. Not a relaxing experience.
