Very impressed with the service we received together with delicious cuisine.

Amazing lunch here today with my wife. We did not like what was on the menu so they found us some hake and grilled it and added the sauce before another fish on the menu. Combined that with their triple cooked chips, peas and cabbage plus their yummy bread and voila we were happy customers.

This was our first visit to Limewood and booked the fixed price lunch £45.00 per person in the Hartnett and Holder restaurant. It was very nice and the staff were generally welcoming, apart from our bearded male waiter, who wasn’t particularly friendly. The first course and dessert were excellent and reasonably sized. But the main course of pork chop that we both had, was a joke. It was minute, with one small potato, one mushroom and no vegetables and (if you do the maths), priced at c. £ 26 - 28. We have experienced small portion sizes with “nouvelle cuisine” before, but this was the most blatant example of poor value for money in a relatively expensive restaurant. See the attached photo of this main course. It was a shame, because the visit would have otherwise been a nice experience.

Stunning food in a really classy restaurant, relaxed feel, overlooking the gardens. Sublime is the best way of describing the dishes. The sort of food you eat really slowly because you don’t want it to end. Service was excellent. The Lymewood is a beautiful location. Highly recommend and 5 stars just isn’t enough!

Honestly and truly...perfect in every way ! From our drinks in the bar (best cocktail ever...) to the little nibbles served with it....arancini balls simply exquisite...to our lunch..not only looked amazing but tasted amazingly too ! I often have trouble accepting that I could have easily cooked the meal at home and not spent a huge amount of money but no way in a month of Sundays could I or anyone I know have prepared such a delightful feast. On top of the quality of the food was the customer service, special thanks to James and especially Feebka (please excuse my spelling) who made my birthday treat so very special. The restaurant is very lucky indeed to have such a warm and delightful lady, as perfect as the top quality food. Such a lovely atmosphere, a wonderful experience from beginning to end...Yes, expensive but worth every single penny !

I celebrated my 70th birthday at Lime Wood and of course ate in the restaurant. The food is very good indeed. Fish cookery is always a bit of a gamble in restaurants but my sole was perfect and expertly served at the table. The staff are very professional and also charming and relaxed. (Special mention to Ellie who has great people skills, and the sommelier. They stock some unusual wines) However also another special mention for the bar menu at lunch in the hotel. Many hotels have great restaurants but poor lunch or bar menus. HH and Co serve a delightful menu. I particularly liked the steak with amazing accompaniments - roasted garlic, field mushroom and sauces. And very very comfortable chairs that you could eat comfortably in. I'm showing my age now

Had a very pleasant business lunch here. The lamb was perfect, as was the baked Alaska. However, the real highlight of the visit was the service; our waitress Dayna was outstanding. Thank you.

Booked Limewood for my brother 70th Birthday, we were a group of 8 plus a baby aged 8 months., We were all looking forward to something special. Our entrees took 1 hour and 15 mins to turn up, then main course was very slow to follow, waiter kept missing filling up one of the guest glass whenever he came around to top glasses, dishes served before everyone had their cutlery. Had to attract the waiter's attention to make the initial order of drinks and to take the meal order and even to clear table and take dessert order! he kept making apologies for the slow service. We were given a bottle of wine to try and make up for the slow service, but I am afraid the 70th birthday lunch was ruined , 3 and half hours for a 3 course lunch, some of us only had 2, a free bottle of wine did not make up the experience. All a bit stressful even when you have a well behaved baby. Real disappointment , we will struggle to encourage family and friends to go to this venue. A great shame as food itself was good.

Maybe I over expected!? We joined friends for Sunday lunch. We were so looking forward to a ‘Limewood experience’. Surely a roast would be one of the best there?! Not so. The starter haddock fritters were too salty, the gazpacho had rock hard croutons, the roast potatoes could not get a knife into let alone a fork, affogato was served in a dish with a jug of expression. I am not usually overly critical but having been bought up in a catering family with a successful restaurant, I have some idea of how food should be especially at high end prices. We have had better roasts at a local pub. This is the second time my partner has purchased a voucher for a lunch for two, to donate to a charity auction. This time it was won by friends who thought it would be nice for us to join them. So disappointing, unfortunately. My partner and I have previously had poor experience pre pandemic, when we had a below standard english breakfast, a revisit was offered but lockdown hit and we did not think fair to request post lockdown. Such a shame, we love the venue but have had better food elsewhere/ at home!

The whole experience was a delight. We walked around the extensive lovely grounds, had cocktails outside before lunch. Service at every stage was friendly and efficient, as you might expect. We all had the al la carte menu, every dish was a wow! from stuffed courgette flowers to lobster risotto and on to some delicious desserts. The wine list is extensive and pricey, but we were able to find a delicious white wine from South Africa that didn't break the bank. We will return.

First time here and it won't be the last. Next time we hope to stay. Beautiful location and the food was fabulous. Service was great and not continuously in your face.

Another visit, and the food was as great as ever. Only marred by the screaming kid, and incessant iPad background noise from the adjacent table. But even that doesn’t take away from the flavour, presentation and taste.

Absolutely love this hotel! The staff seem genuinely happy to be there and can’t do enough for you. Faultless! Dinner was fabulous and our waiter Brad made our evening with his dry sense of but not forgetting professionalism. We stayed in forest suite which was amazing. The Spa and treatments we had were lovely. Very tasty healthy lunch in Raw and Cured. Would absolutely recommend this hotel and hope to return! Thanks Lime wood!!
