Really welcoming pub,to us and our dogs. Reasonable range of beers, a Fullers pub. Getting in and out the car park can be a little awkward onto a road junction, just go steady. Can not comment on the food as did not eat, just propped in for a drink.

Restaurant review:As other reviews say, food took an hour to come out and were substandard. Didn't match what was asked for. All we had were eggs. Staff were fine but shouldn't have taken so long just for an egg breakfast.Food & drinks: Food didn't match the menu, eggs and toast were given to us without butter, and staff only gave us butter from the fridge.

Great locationNice room with nice touches to itThough a Hard bedLack of staff and poor service spoilt it .. simply not enough staff to ensure guests are happy.. guest service was good but lack of enough people made it hard to get anything1 coffee pot between all guests at breakfast..a Poor breakfast choice .. small dinner menu and disappointing to order “steak and Malbec” .. ooh sorry not got any ..”we have this more expensive one though”Lacks quality senior management who control the showRoom 4 star but staff not at all “interested “Bald guy was the best of them but rushing around not being able to make a positive impactFirst impression in the morning of walking to the reception… a clothes airer in the hallway covered in clothsNot very 4 star ..,Never walked past reception without seeing “ no one here” sign on the deskRooms: Good room size and nice touches but cold on entry .. some heating should been turned on in readiness for guestsNice coffee and tea.. toiletry products need more regular refills as nearly emptyPublic toilets need more regular checking for cleaning for certainFood & drinks: Poor overall .. service was friendly but not attentive whatsoever. No offer of “more drink” .. all seemed like a chore for the staffNoteworthy details: Good room .. expensive drinks and slow/poor service

Food was nice but pricey. Service was slow, so much so that when our two-hour slot was up we were thrown out to make way for a funeral wake and we didn't have time to have a dessert.

I must say I was very disappointed with the attendance given to me for my mother’s wake .I had booked a room for 40 people. When arriving back from the funeral there was no one to show us where to go ,and no one to tell my guests there would be food.No one at any time Asked us if everything was okay. Each time we needed anything we had to go and find someone .I had ordered sandwiches and chips, only two plates of chips were served for 40 people nowhere near enough. Some of my guess, did not realise there would be food and went to the bar for menus to order their own food, which I felt very cross about. Also contacting the receptionist before the event was a nightmare, as many times I had rung, and was told they would get back to me, but this never happened, in the end, I had to drive there and ask them face face-to-face,All in all I would not be using the Cromwell Arms again, I must say also my guests did not think we were treated appropriately.

Family planned a wake .. paid for a private room and food and toast for 50 people .. room was not private couples having lunch room was to small not enough chairs .. tea coffee facilities not set up on arrival and more important toast for the deceased was not available until most guests had travelled back to other parts of the uk !! The widow was traumatised as the toast was of great importance and was to be given on arrival of guests after the funeral .. terrible service but it got worse not enough seating not at all private and food was about 4/6 trays of food not worth a quarter of the cost bloody disgusting.. on complaint apparently a sorry was enough that they were short staffed spoiled an important event that can never be fixed … will never recommend this venue

This review is about the pub, not the hotel. Eight adults (four couples) plus one baby met for lunch on a midweek afternoon just after Christmas 2023. It was crowded but not heaving. Our reservation was for 1.00 and we were told we would have to vacate by 2.30. Our starters arrived at 2.05, leaving us 25 minutes to eat our starters, be served our mains, eat them, order, receive, and eat puddings, have any coffee, request and receive the bill. Can you see anything wrong with this? When it eventually arrived, the food was very good. We saw other tables get their food long before us. We didn't have puddings or coffee. I felt sorry for the servers as we certainly didn't leave a tip. The pub did apologise for the delay and took 25% off our bill. However, the worst was yet to come as that evening, two of our party were violently ill and a third the following evening. They all had something different so we cannot say it was food poisoning but we wonder if our food sat somewhere and went off before being reheated and brought out to us. It may have been a bug but was a strange coincidence.

We used this pub for the wake, but they didn't serve what they promised and hugely overcharged on what was serviced. It seems they used this sad event to rob the grieving family blind.

Booked a table for a family lunch. Starters took about an hour to arrive and required reminding the staff. The mains took another hour so we decided to leave without desert. Even then we had to go to the bar to remind them to bring us the bill. The staff were friendly but there were not enough of them, as others have said, management need look at why this is a recurring theme.

Very good food and service. Decent selection of beer.

14/12. I went to The Cromwell Arms with my husband for dinner. I ordered the steak, id like to say compliments to the chef, I think it was the best cooked steak I ever had. I will be returning!
