Went for dinner at the restaurant on a Sunday for a family birthday. Service was warm, friendly, attentive and nothing felt to much to ask. The food was equally as good if not better. Everything tasted brilliant and the portions were plenty (I was hesitant there might not be enough vegetables for everyone at the beginning which the staff noted and offered to bring another bowl out which I appreciated hugely, we didn’t need it to be honest). Cost is maybe on the higher side I guess but it’s definitely worth it as I left feeling totally satisfied which is hard to achieve for a grumpy old man like me. Will definitely go back.

Had a meal and drink with a group. Fish and chips and a drink offer. Excellent food and drink. Service was good too, very welcoming. Looks to be a good place for a drink when the weather improves as the court yard looks good.Nearby activities: Local fishing and New Forest.Food & drinks: Fish and chips offer was very good.

Did not stay overnight, only popped in for breakfast as I couldn't get in my first choice in Romsey. It was nice food and the service was good.A lot of people were turned away after us, saying no food is served between 10:30 & 12 but we were seated and served at 10:45 so not sure what that was about.

Excellent service at a private party.

A lovely oasis in the heart of Romsey. A place to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy country town. The restaurant has nice decor. If I had to make one negative comment it would be that the menu seems to have 'dumbed down' to pub level whereas it used to be a bit special with a decent set lunch.Nearby activities: Historic coaching hotel, a quite escape in the heart of a bustling town.Although the hotel hadn't any parking there are nearby car parks within easy reach and Romsey town is all on one level.Lovely walks around the town and by the river.Walkability: In easy reach of all local facilites.

On a visit for lunch last year I went to go out of the front door (a fire exit) to find it was locked. I pointed this out at reception (I don't think this was the receptionist as two people were sitting there going through something and I seemed to interrupt them) but I was told it was to stop people using it! This very arrogant person refused to unlock it immediately and said she would do so (suggesting this would be when she wanted to and not now) but continued to do what she was doing failing to understand the urgency. The other person on reception seemed to understand the urgency but didn't comment so I presume she was in a less powerful position. It is against the law to lock fire escapes. We definitely wouldn't recommend staying there if management attitude is as stubborn as that. Such a shame but if she was in a managerial position, her attitude must reflect the corporate view. Customers aren't important enough so errors aren't admitted or corrected, even if lives may be at risk.
