Had a lovely evening meeting up with my brother and sister in law. Great choice of venue with very extensive menu. All pleased with our food choices. Made even better by the great service from Fiona. Very friendly and smiley and nothing too much trouble. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely food party of 5, salad advertised as served on a bed of 'mixed' leaves. 2 out of the 5 of us ordered salads which came with a huge pile of rocket leaves and no other leaves. Waitress did a check back and asked how the food was and we mentioned the lack of leaves. A manager came over and offered free deserts, extremely warm and helpful service and overall top quality food.Young lad on the ice cream counter was also extremely friendly ?

Stayed here for a campervan stop over. Nice quiet car park.Had a pie which was fab and great value, generous servings.Alisha was fab and looked after us, made us outsiders feel welcome.Nice selection of drinks too.Close to near by walks.They also make thier own gelato and doggy gelato.

Christmas meal was fantastic. Service was excellent, food came out quickly and was very, very tasty. Dietary requirements catered for and nothing was too much trouble. Very impressed and would highly recommend.

I reserved a table for myself, my son and my parents. When we arrived we were taken to a table with low benches which was not suitable and asked if we could move to another table. Most of the tables in the pub were empty but we were taken to a table by the kitchen which was dirty and had no cutlery. The waitress was not willing to accommodate and did not seem very happy in her job. We ordered 2 hunters chicken, ribs and chicken and pizza and chips. All of our chicken was dry and had a strange taste, the bacon did not look like it had been cooked and the sauce was non existent. It was as though it had all been reheated. My son’s pizza was a Chicago town microwave pizza which was raw. The only person to apologise was the young waitress who delivered our food and it was not her fault. Very bad food and service.

Having booked a table for 4 we arrived on time we ordered our food.we had a long wait and the chicken was awful as was child's pizza.We did complain but the only person to apologise was a young member of staff.Definitely won't be back or recommend it .Senior member of staff not very helpful or happy.

Stopped at the happy cheese late Saturday night for dinner before an early morning ferry to IOW. Food was excellent and served quickly. Was really busy due to the festive period so was surprised how quick the service was, even at the bar when ordering. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Had issues with the booking app (book on table) but staff helped us out with that. Lovely setting and set up. Proper family feel pub and Bella’s gelato parlour was a lovely touch. Lovely touch with the Xmas decor too. Would love to go back in summer time to enjoy the beer garden. Was able to leave vehicle there overnight which was a huge bonus! Xmas lunch was lovely ! Billy the cook makes a love meal . Very friendly and he made sure everything was ok for us . This is a great pub for food and nice location for forest walking too !

I'm from christchurch and was on my way home from a shopping trip to Southampton. I have always loved the name of this place but never been in. I walked in alone and was welcomed with a lovely smile and friendly service, the food was great, the place was buzzing with all sorts of customers and as a single female i have never felt so relaxed, i could of sat there all day, no problem. I will be back with the clan in tow!
