“One of the best pubs in Pompey! Lovely pint of hazy pale ale yesterday. We drank the barrel of Hop-Hearted dry and had to move on to empty the barrel of Goodens Gold.”

“Love The Phoenix. Always made very welcome by staff and customers. Meat raffle and open the box on a Sunday.
Gents loos have been done up but some of the locals say it has ruined the atmosphere ?
Two sides of the bar in the main building, smoking area outside, plus the games room beyond that.
Lots of memorabilia and things to look at on the walls and ceiling.
Highly recommended.

Parking: Parking can be difficult in the area, and there are restrictions with a parking scheme in place.

Wheelchair accessibility: Doorways quite narrow so may be a bit tight getting in. Should be OK once inside but I'm sure there was a step into the smoking area and beyond.”

It's usually quiet, but there's a blues jam every first Sunday of the month that transforms it into a bustling little gem with a changing rota of musicians with a great repertoire ?. For sensitive folks like me, earplugs are a sensible choice ?”

“Myself and my partner participated in the "Beer Tasting Masterclass" run by Joel. We sampled 8 beers over a 2 hour period and got a fantastic narrative throughout, describing each of the beers, flavour profiles and how they are made. Really interesting and very well run. Joel was fantastic and highly recommend the experience!”
