Wonderful village pub, with super friendly staff. Just borderline on prices, but their menu looks amazing. I didn't eat on this visit, but I'll make a point of trying something next time.Be aware that you can park in the Village Hall car park, which is directly beside The Vine.Highly recommended.

Lovely pub, with a charming staff - chef & barmaid. We got there just too late for lunch but the chef was sitting down at the bar & offered to re-open the kitchen & cook us a meal. Really lovely of him, the food was good, the drinks were good & service great. Only complaint? the dreaded card machine which asks you - before you have eaten or sipped your drink, whether you want to leave a tip. It really makes you want to say "no" but we did say "yes". I think if it had been left to us regarding tips, we would have left more - after we had enjoyed the meal. We certainly will go back & probably book a Sunday lunch, as for tips, we will decide after we have paid cash. To the two brilliant staff though - a big thank you.

Lovely village pub with friendly staff. Good food (we had the prawn cocktail, Camembert , Hunter’s chicken, and Lasagne) very tasty! Glad we arrived early as it got busy. Nice beer garden to enjoy the sun. Will be back !!

It serves beer, plays live music on Saturday, and serves food. It's a no-nonsense pub, popular with locals. has a good dart board, a small rear beer garden, and a couple of fruit machines.

Lovely pub in a beautiful little village. Friendly service, delicious food and plenty of historic memorabilia to look at.

Very cosy, warm oldy pub/restaurant! Great food, they do a fantastic roast as well. Cater for large groups and families and even tables for 2 feel looked after by being seated by the open fire (for the colder evenings)

A pub like a pub should be. Warm, welcoming and great value.

A delightful country pub with a warm welcome but there it stops. The food list is short and very pub grub. The wine list is chalked on an overhead beam; three reds, three whites, 2 rosee, and a Prossco. The Cumberland sausage and mash was not at all pleasant. The sausages appear to have been reheated from the previous day - tough and tasteless. The roasted chicken breast was smothered in BBQ sauce and grilled with rasher of bacon and cheese on top. The wine was reasonably priced for an awful quality.

Not as good as I had hoped. But we all have off days, perhaps that was the case here. I would go back again though.

Experience was ok, but with a few tweaks could be much better. Booked a table for a pre Mothers Day lunch and given pick of tables in the right side bar, whereas everyone else eating seemed to be on the other side. Box of cutlery arrived promptly but instead of giving us menus or taking our drinks order waitress went back behind bar to serve other customers. Menu was brief and standard pub fare but very reasonable prices. Chicken gougons had been left in the fryer a bit too long so were very hard and dark, but portion was generous. Halloumi burger and pie were nice (although didn't detect any ham in the chicken, ham and leek pie). Ordered weakest bitter and it arrived very cloudy. When asked whether it was usually like that waitress didn't seem to know (or even what it was called). Limited dessert menu and unfortunately salted caramel icecream was unavailable. Nice to visit pub actually in the village for a change, but while service was charming it lacked a bit of professionalism which could easily be improved

Went with my family in December 2022 shortly after the new owners had taken over. The service was good, the food was well presented and all three courses were delicious and enjoyed by all. Decided to pay another visit in January 2023 having been told by a villager there was a new Chef as the previous one had left. The menu was slightly different, the pie was off the menu but a rump steak had been added, plus a few other tweaks had been made. The service was good but the food was disappointing. The daily special of chilli was served in an enamel dish that you would find in a country vet's surgery back in the 1950's. Regrettably it was dry, claggy and had an underlying bitter taste. The other diners' were also disappointed in the presentation and quality of their meals, needless to say there were no clean plates returned to the kitchen. I really hope the new owners succeed as Hambledon residents can easily support a village pub/restaurant such as the Vine but the food offering needs to be worthy of venturing out on a cold and wet January evening. It's not the end of the world, onwards and upwards. Good luck!
