“What a great little business and very unique. We entered expecting some original cocktails. We selected some seats and Oliver came over and explained the concept and demo’s (tasters) some of the ingredients that go into the cocktails.All unusual and totally original.Ordered our drinks and 2 light bites. Drinks were Roman Tonic, some sort of Cream Soda and a Woodman. Bites were a type of Christmas tart and a hot Malt Loaf.Everything was superb. The drinks were different but similar to thinks we’d tasted before. The atomic was a little like Cuba Libre, the Woodman like a White Russian and the Soda like a Pina Colida. All non alcoholic. All freshly made.The tart and the Malt loaf were delicious. The room is a cross between an apothecary and a lounge. We felt like we were transported back to the Victorian era.We spent about 90mins in there and will definitely return. Thanks to Oliver and Eughan (excuse the spelling!) for hosting us.”

“What a fantastic place! Whenever we are in Winchester we visit for a coffee, cinnamon roll and to browse the items for sale. It's a great cafe to meet in, lots of atmosphere and the service is always quick and friendly too.”

“Follow Mr & Mrs R on TikTok. I’ve given this pub five stars because I feel it’s not the pub itself that is to blame for the bad beer. The young barman was obviously trying his best, but he probably wasn’t a nail drinker I wouldn’t know a good pint from a bad one.I could only assume that the barrel was either, a new and not laid to rest for long enough. He did pump air before he got to the ale entering the glass, or it was coming to the end. Either way he would not except that a customer with 50 years experience of ale drinking and unbeknown to him a member of camra might be saying something is not right.My advice to camra members is, try before you buy. It’s very rare that my wife and I walk out of a pub leaving our beers on the bar.A beautiful old pub it’s just a shame that the owners don’t seem to realise what a gem they have.The pub is in itself a lovely building and I can only hope that my experience was due to the fact that they were having a bad day.”

“Stopped in on Wednesday for some lunch and sat upstairs in the booth. When we came in, we were immediately greeted and offered a table and the service was lovely. We got our drinks and food very quickly - fantastic panini and excellent coffee. 10/10 would return.”
