Really enjoyed our stay! We were here in the off season, and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Well, aside from all the sheep. Woke up looking out the window to see sheep and lamb trodding around in the field behind the lodge. Get some takeaway and eat on the picnic tables overlooking the pond. Rooms were well-decorated and cozy! The (included) breakfast consisted of juices, fruit, cereal, and your choice of main meal from the menu. Very friendly staff. We’d come back in a heartbeat!Noteworthy details: Lots of wildlife right in your backyard! Sheep, lamb, ducks. Also great parking facilities. Lots of space and overflow parking available.

Lovely Sunday roast lunch, full to bursting but luckily found room for excellent desserts. Will come again!

Rooms are a little bit tired but staff were fantastic.

I'll start with the positives, breakfast was lovely, Room was great, Tracey And the bar staff were great and very helpful,my advice though is don't book a Sunday night, nothing open after 3 o'clock And you only find this out after you book so very disappointed with that, If I'd known this I'd have only booked the Saturday night, apparently it's split into two so the people who run the bar and restaurant are nothing to do with the rooms which is never a good thing as nobody present to deal with any issues regarding rooms etc apart from the bar staff and kitchen and it's nothing to do with them, If your going to run a place you need to be more hands on, I'll add this bit on as I can't reply to your reply the point is you only find out these things after you've booked And as to the bar and restaurant setting their own hours surely it should all come under one umbrella as it's the same building, how is anyone supposed to know beforehand that it's two separate owners and entities , not ideal and will surely end up with one blaming the other if anything hits the fan, you cant sell a product And only deliver half the goods , it should be run by one boss, anybody booking a weekend away would be disappointed If it ended at 3 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon

Lovely place, really nice rooms, excellent location, friendly staff. Food didn't quite match its price tag.

Took my Mum for Sunday lunch here as pressie for her birthday. Sat outside on newly furbished patio in glorious setting. The lunch itself was excellent with plenty of food for all. Service fantastic and great value for money. Plenty of room for kids to run around in grounds. Definitely will return ?

Clean rooms. Nice linens.Nobody was there when I checked in. There was a letter with my keys saying due to an event (outdated as the event was already done a while ago) breakfast was from 6:30-8. That's early. Ended up just buying breakfast somewhere else.

Myself & husband came here for a romantic break. On arrival the lodge & grounds looked very nice. We entered the building where keys are laid out on a table to help yourself to your room keys which lacked the personal touch. The staff were all working at the bar serving bottomless brunch in the restaurant so we’re completely hands off with the accommodation side of things so your left to look for your room with key in hand, We booked room 1 as it was the room advertised with a jacuzzi bath. The room was nice, inviting & spacious. We went down to have a drink at the bar, pretty noisy restaurant next door with the bottomless brunch going on but we didn’t mind that. We headed back to our room to use the jacuzzi bath, had to give it a bit of a rinse down first then filled the bath above the jets as per the instructions. Unfortunately we went to press the button to turn on the jacuzzi but it didn’t work. We tried the button several times & it didn’t sound like there was any power going to it, we looked around incase there was a switch somewhere to turn the power on but nothing. Following several attempts we gave up & headed downstairs to ask a member of staff. The staff member told us the rooms & bar were run by separate people, she couldn’t help us so gave us a piece of paper with a phone number to call a lady called Lizzie. We would have at least expected the staff to call so resolve any problems & not have to sort it out ourselves. Despite several calls to Lizzie she did not answer the phone & on the last attempt hung up on me. I ended up texting her as I was pretty angry by this point & ended up having to use the shower in the meantime. After we got out the shower Lizzie had replied to say she was in a meeting. There was no offer of help until I text back again asking for a partial refund as the sole reason for booking that room was for the jacuzzi bath. Time went on & she said she was sending her husband to take a look at it. We did not hear him knock when she text to say he was there & we looked around outside but couldn’t see him. We didn’t get another text so proceeded to get ready for our evening meal, I text Lizzie again to say the matter had not been resolved. 10 minutes before we were about to go for our evening meal Jonathan Lizzies husband came to look at the bath, filled it up & then had to pull the panels off to fix the bath from underneath. 20 minute later the bath was working but too late for us to use it. We went for evening meal downstairs. It wasn’t overly busy however we waited 20 minutes to have our order taken. It was further 40 minutes wait to have our food, Also they forgot my chips so I had more or less eaten my salmon before the chips came out as they were another 10 minutes. We had a garlic Ciabatta however there was a taste of washing up liquid on one end. Shambles really. On arrival for breakfast there were no staff around, there were tables full of people’s plates & eaten breakfasts that hadn’t been cleared away. Again not lots of people there having breakfast but we still sat there 20 minutes before being offered a drink with a further 20 minute wait to have our breakfast order taken. The whole system seems disorganised & doesn’t flow well. After a further wait we had out cutlery, had to ask for milk for our drinks. We weren’t offered toast on the side even though we could see toast holders on other tables where people had had breakfast earlier. I had poached egg on toast, the toast was really dry like it had been reheated & the poached egg was average. My husbands cooked breakfast was ok but no toast offered. Check out is pop a key in the box, again very in-personal. This place has so much potential but there are so many aspects that need to be improved first. Such a shame.

Firstly, the accommodation. Beautiful little room, well appointed, super comfy bed, quiet and easy to find. But… Breakfast is served from 8am but I was told, on a promptly answered, friendly email, that they would be happy to open early and do me something light. They would make a note but please remind them on check in. This was great as I was heading on a 4 day riding trail the next day and didn’t want to have to find food before I started. However, on arrival, there was no one there, the keys were just left on a table and there was no mention of their offer to do breakfast so I ended up popping to coop and getting a porridge pot and a banana. This alone wouldn’t have merited 3 stars, but another couple arrived at the same time and the keys they had been left wouldn’t open the outer door to their block. They tried ringing the landline and mobile and there was no answer. I sent an email about breakfast and also rang…and no answer. I don’t know what I would have done in this situation as a solo traveller. Cried I think. They were still there an hour later trying to find somewhere else to stay. This all left me feeling a bit vulnerable as if there are no staff on site or at the end of the phone, who comes in an emergency? I wouldn’t stay again for this reason.

There was a friendly gentleman who was power washing the chairs outside, but no reception otherwise. They did leave our keys and a letter waiting, and they did apologise for not being there to greet us. It was OK but had we had issues I don't know what we would have done. The room was small and simple, it was only the basic one. It was fine, TV, shower, hair dryer, kettle etc the usual. But the bed was not great, it was small so I hung off the end the duvet was crinkly and noisy so we didn't get a good night sleep. The location and area was beautiful and easy to get to.Breakfast was delicious and the dining area was lovely, we had raptors swooping hovering right outside the huge window while we ate!
