Lovely old traditional pub run by Jane and Rosie two sisters for nearly 40 years. Open fires. We had steak and ale pie and it was perfect, beautiful tender meat fresh vegetables and lovely crispy chips. Would highly recommend

The 4 of us stopped in Pembridge last week for 4 nights. On the first night we wandered into this very old and quite remarkable pub. We had a few ales (which were lovely hand pulled pints) and decided to eat there. I cannot sing the praise of the food highly enough. Truly outstanding food. It was that good we ate there 3 nights out of the 4 we nights we stopped (it would have been every night if we hadn’t decided to have a curry outside of the village one night) Rosie in the kitchen and Jane front of house are a great team (alongside their lovely and attentive staff) We would recommend this pub to anybody who wants a superb hand pulled pint and fantastic food in a very charismatic old pub. What a Gem! Mark, Annie, Steve and Helen

Went up to see Pembridge Black and White Village and came across the New Inn for lunch. So old with loads of atmosphere, quaint and old-fashioned . Wife had a "bacon sandwich" half a baguette with so much local bacon she only just finished it but could not manage the bowl of local potato chips. I had the ploughmans easily enough for two, slices of pie plus a couple of thick slices of local thick-cut ham two large chunks of cheese, salad, pickled onions, an apple, a slice of melon and chutney and two chunks of fresh bread. had to bring the cheese home, so good. Couple of pints all very good prices.

Going to a local auction in Pembridge we had lunch for first time in The New Inn. What we assume was the owners we very friendly and chatty. The pub itself is very old and full of character with family photographs dotted about making the atmosphere very homely. We ordered the ploughmans for two and have to say it is the best ploughman’s we have ever had. Everything about was lovely from fresh ingredients to presentation. Absolutely delicious. The whole experience was lovely and will definitely be going again.

Unfriendly /rude landlady - we arrived as a group, we hadn't booked and simply asked if we could get a table. Told abruptly that was not possible in an agressive & dismissive tone. Went to the Red Lion instead down the road which was lot friendler and the food was perfect. Proper home made chips rather than frozen. Unfortunatley the New Inn appeasrs to trade on its location rather than its service. We wont be trying again!

I should have took notice from a previous review. Firstly found it difficult to find due to incorrect postcode on this site. Told the landlady on arrival who simply dismissed this with a "we don't have a website". Not interested having this corrected by asking us where this postcode was found. Next, directed to the most wobbly table with a broken leg. Not interested in addressing this or apologising. We took it upon ourselves to find another table. Food took ages despite it not being busy. Salad came without smoked chicken despite it being advertised as such. Provided an excuse/ lie as to why this happened. Nobody asked how our meal was. Steak was tasteless. Food was overpriced for what it was. Had to go to the bar for more drinks where the landlady was joking with the locals. An attitude that change when it came to serving me as a visitor. Basically I would never go here again and would advise people against it as there seemed no care in visitors or indeed having return visits or positive reviews.

Looks a bit scruffy. We didn't get to order a meal as dogs aren't allowed, even in the bar which is unusual these days. An unfriendly woman in the bar just dismissed us with a no.

My husband & I both enjoyed lamb shank, with potatoes & vegetables. It did seem odd to serve the water in wine glasses though......

A real log fire in a medieval fireplace sitting in a settle to match. True old fashioned pub atmosphere. Thank goodness no dogs which are a curse in so many places nowadays.

Delicious food and fantastic portions, set in a very old pub with lots of history. Would definitely recommend

This is a traditional pub with what I would call a no nonsense approach. If you are coming to drink coffee and order a portion of chips between three of you prob not for you. But if you want to spend a few hours drinking good beer in a unique atmosphere this is the place for you. We loved it and would definitely come back as we would like to eat here as the food looks good. wrap up warm just in case in winter, no dogs.

Visited here for lunch whilst meeting other family members. When arriving the landlady isn’t the most welcoming however, the food was great! Great portion sizes and served quickly. There are two dinning rooms one on the left and another to the right. The rooms have stone floors and were chilly despite the open fire being lit. The pub is very traditional and back in time. However, cleanliness isn’t a strong point there! Overall I would go back to the new inn as food is great and the young waitress was brilliant, provided a great service. But towards the end of dessert they were flashing the lights as a signal to leave, no “would you like the bill? Or “just to let you know we’re closing soon” just a flicker of the lights. I wouldn’t expect that as we had spent £240 between 8 of us. But never mind had a great time!

After a break of some years I feared that things might have changed, but no.. (actually I imagine nothing much has changed at the New Inn due centuries, thank goodness!) The game pie was still absolutely delicious, the landlady delightful, and the atmosphere so comforting. If you visit during the winter, wrap up warm; it's a draughty old building and can be a bit nippy around the nether regions despite the log fires. If you want to experience a real traditional historic country pub which hasn't been ruined by a designer make-over this is the place for you! Just wonderful!

Just had a most delicious Sunday Lunch with friends. I had fancied Pork for the meal and top of the Sunday menu Roast Loin of Pork!! Plenty of slices of fabulous pork over a generous amount of crackling with 5 side vegetables all beautifully cooked. Washed down with red wine and Town Crier from Hobsons. Lovely way to spend Sunday.
