Bar • “We stayed at the Royal Hotel for two days in early October, 2023. The room was terrific, with a great view of the river below. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, both in the front office and the restaurant/bar. Wonderful food, too. Overall, an all-round excellent guest experience!”
Bar • “I actually visited the Loughpool in September of 2022 but TripAdvisor won't allow a year+ old reviews. But tough! I was visiting nearby Gloucestershire as a birthday getaway arranged by my GF and was looking for a destination for a highly thought of Sunday lunch visit. After booking a couple of other places and subsequently having to cancel I came across the Loughpool online. Encouraged by the reviews we booked it and on the Sunday morning made the half an hour drive to get there. Upon arrival we were deeply impressed by the visage. A very pretty pub whose staff warmly encouraged to come in as we had arrived bang on opening time. After entering we were offered our choice of tables and picked a beautifully tucked away little table in a nook. Light and airy - it was a delightfully romantic spot. After placing our orders and getting a drink we weren't left waiting long for our food. For a starter I plumped for the pea and wild garlic soup - which was outstanding. So much so I tried to replicate the recipe a day or two after our break ended! Our mains arrived not long after. The roast beef we plumped for was outstanding. Tender and perfectly cooked. The sides were excellent. Everything you want in a roast. Alas, we weren't able to spend longer at the Loughpool as we had boozy birthday plans in Gloucester, but - given the opportunity - I don't doubt we would have. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The other clientele were pleasant, quiet and polite. This was a very memorable visit - I'm just sorry I didn't review it sooner. Bar • “Food and drinks were beautiful and staff were friendly with such a warm atmosphere but the best bit is the time and attention the staff gave a regular elderly gentleman. If I lived locally I would definitely be a regular ”
Bar • “We were on holiday in the area and popped in for a drink at the recommendation of the lady whose accommodation we were staying at. We weren’t disappointed, the service was very good and the pub had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere; because of this we decided to book a table for the following evening for dinner. Again we were not disappointed, the food was great - lamb shank with mash and gammon and chips. All very reasonably priced. If we had been staying in the area longer, this would have become our “Local”.”
Bar • “A lovely inn offering rooms above an excellent restaurant and pub in picturesque Symonds Yat. The rooms in front of the property provide an amazing view on the river Wye flowing by and (in autumn) the colourful trees on the hill in front.Nearby activities: There are several pleasant walks in Symonds Yat.”
Bar • “First time I've been in here in ages and it sure has changed. Popped in late on a Saturday night, live band playing, very busy. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, door staff were polite. No idea of bar prices as it wasn't my round.”

“It was a nice hotel, but needs some money spending on it, we could not fault the staff it was clean and comfortable and close to where we was fishing. We sadly did not try the food, bur we will next time we stay”
Bar • “I have to say I was impressed with how food the food was, everything certainly arrived fresh and well cooked. I was impressed with my salmon and my calamari which didn't appear to be just out of the freezer. Although the spicy mayo sauce should say hot mayo I would certainly make a trip to visit ”

“Really enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch here today. Really lovely waiting team looked after us swiftly and with a great personal touch. Highly recommendedVegetarian options: A little limited on the Sunday lunch menu, but the nut roast main is available as veggie or vegan and is utterly delicious!! Range of starters and puds also available, although I didn’t try them this time.Parking: Found a disability space right next to the main door. Perfect!!”
