Called in today 4/2/24 at lunchtime, hadn’t booked but even though they were very busy they kindly squeezed us in. We had the beef roast and it was all delicious, all fresh and huge portions. Cannot fault it, very friendly staff, great atmosphere and dog friendly. Our dog was very pleased that we brought the leftovers home, all nicely boxed up by the chef.

We stopped here for lunch on August Bank Holiday Monday, completely on spec. This is a nice traditional pub serving a range of established drink brands and also some local ales. The clientele was a mix of locals and tourists. The menu caters for all choices… light hot lunches, sandwiches and main plates. All of them are good traditional pub food choices. We sat outside and the atmosphere and outlook was very pleasant. The quality of the food was excellent. I had fish and chips from the specials board. The batter was thin, light and crispy. The fish inside was cooked to perfection. The portion was huge! The staff were very helpful… we were warned of a 30 minute wait as the kitchen was flat out at that point, but once they were ready to accept new orders, we were immediately informed and our food was then served promptly. Highly recommended!

Lovely pub, that we were relieved to discover after cooking the hill from the river. Dogs allowed inside and out and they provided water for us. We had the homemade fish finger baguette and a prawn and smoked salmon salad. Both were enormous and came with home made sauces. Very very tasty. Lovely smiley service and a decent price.
