27/10/23: Hemel Hempstead Weekend: visiting friends John & Hazel for the weekend, myself Lynette & Bryan. We'd travelled to Berkhamsted for the afternoon. The weather was cold and crisp outside but the pub was warm and welcoming. Good selection of craft ale, but I chose the Orchard Pig Reveller cider. It wasn't good and tasted off/past it's best. Other drinks were ok. Very busy inside with workers dressed in scruffy clothes, painters overalls, workwear.

Always friendly and popular in the sunshine. Inside it's quirky but plenty of seating, including a covered outside area. Always a good selection of ales, ciders, lagers and spirits. Most people hang around outside along the toe path, but watch out after a few, many have come a cropper in the Grand Union!Kid-friendliness: No problem with children inside, which is a bonus for Berko.

Nice little canal side pub situated adjacent to a lock, and you can sit out and enjoy boaters passing through. Very friendly service and good selection of beers. A good place to visit.

Lovely and welcoming vintage pub, literally set on the Grand Junction Canal through Berkhamsted and a genuine manually operated lock. As soon as the weather allows it, people come out to enjoy their drinks and the scenery. More tables seem to come out from the ground and soon, the path on the canal and the little area surrounding the lock become a lively informal terrace where everyone, including pets, simply enjoy being here, watching the narrow boats and the time go by.There is a large covered terrace as well for colder days and fresh evenings while the bar area, very cosy and warm, makes you want to seat there forever. The best is to come and check by yourself!

All the pubs allong the towpath were busy when we visited and all looked to be providing food and drink to suit a wide range of clientele - kids, families, dogs, you name it. The canal and the narrow boats are the main attraction and we had a lovely walk around the area and a nice drink outside, watching the world go by. I recommend it!

That’s definitely my favourite pub to have a drink. It’s so beautifully ran and sooooo friendly. One day we bought a drinks we wanted to pay by Apple Pay but unfortunately our payment didn’t go through so we were asked to present a card itself what we did not have, barman told us do not worry go enjoy your drink and brink next time we come in, when we got in next day in order to pay back he said for honesty and we let you have it for free ,May be 15 years ago it’s was common but definitely not those daysWe recommend place as its so friendly, good to dogs, lgbt welcome what is nice.Lovely staff and beautiful vibeThank you
