Booked one of the huts outside. The service was very slow and It wasn’t even busy. Seemed like staff was serving everyone inside and forgot about us outside. Took 35 mins after seated to have food order taken and 1 hour to receive the food after the order was taken. A lot of what we ordered they didn’t have and They didn’t inform us when seated. The food served to us was cold like it had been sat on the side for ages. Wasn’t brilliant. They hadn’t cancelled the food we didn’t end up having due to them having run out so that was on the bill. Had to get those all taken off.Overall, stupidly slow service considering it wasn’t busy at all and food isn’t that great.

I've been here a couple of times prior and came along with my family a week ago to celebrate my mum. It was a Saturday lunch and the place was pretty quiet in the vinyard (we were in the igloo?) However, we waited ages for our food to come. This was unlike my previous experience there. We wondered why service was so slow, till Sean, the lovely new chef took time to come speak with us and apologized for delay, explaining he had just taken over from the chef who had quit without notice the previous day. All the same, food was lovely considering the pressure and unplanned circumstances and the lovely young lady who waited on us (I think her name may be Jackie) was really patient in taking our large order (9 of us). We were compensated with desserts ?. We will return again.

They got three orders wrong in a row. Service extremely slow. Cocktails did not taste great. Dessert was okay though.

Whilst the venue is very cozy and the staff are friendly, it appeared to be that we were purposely swindled. We came in for dinner with two children and we weren’t presented with children’s menus. Our kids ate adult portions of bangers and mash and a basic pasta that was also quite the sized large bowl.Unbeknownst to us both plates were listed on the children’s menus for £6.50 per serving but again we weren’t made aware of the children’s menu.My wife had the buffalo chicken sandwich and there was nothing buffalo about it. No dressing other than ketchup on the side. I went for the steak and ale pie with horseradish?? There wasn’t a trace of ? radish. And (get this) my meal was a kids size portion and it tasted like it just came out of the freezer; it reminded me of a Ramsey Gordon’s kitchen nightmares episode.Being that it was Valentine’s Day I refrained from making a comment about menu mistakes and the bland food. I was close to expressing my dissatisfaction because the bill was just over £80.00 without the surcharge. It’s also worth mentioning, I enjoyed a single pint of beer, and just tap water for the table. So we didn’t go crazy with drinks or juices.Soup was very tasty! The wings smelled amazing and they happened to come with blue cheese dressing which would have made sense to include on the buffalo sandwich. I didn’t order them because we were told that the serving size is ~ 4 wings. When they were served to the table next to us, there would atleast 6 maybe 8.It broke our bank but we didn’t want the black horse to be the dark knight and break the hearts ? of their other hopeful cupids.Sorry guys, I’m in the hospitality industry and I know how much work it takes to run a restaurant from kitchen to the front of the house, so usually I’m easier on the reviews when it comes to my dining experiences.

Lovely quaint village pub. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and food was yummy ?

Lovely pub for food with outdoor huts and a warmer outdoor, enclosed seating area. We managed to get a hut in the enclosed area which helped contain the children!

New decoration has taken away the attraction of this pub. Too much emphasis on food. Some people like me want to walk my dog and have a pint.
