Friendly pub, good service and fantastic Sunday roast. Very generous portion with a good gravy, proper cauliflower cheese and herby potatoes. The beef a little too well done for me but moist and my companion enjoyed their lamb! Delicious crumble, again a very good portion side with hot homemade custard. Really happy with the roast and possibly the best I’ve had in the area in 3 years! Lovely atmosphere in a historic pub, quiet countryside location for really peaceful walks. Friendly clientele and staff. Only downside I will say is that their toilet smells quite potently of countryside so that’s pretty authentic!Parking: Lots of space for cars

It was very quiet which seemed undeserved - nice pub, beautiful location with good food, beer (wine) and service.Come on people - if you don't support lovely pubs like this one, they'll disappear. I can't be plainer than this!!!!!

Tremendous Hall & Woodhouse pub. Fursty Ferret was top drawer. Wish we could have stayed for a meal but the hills were calling!

Wonderful Christmas Lunch, in the stunning preserved ancient barn. Very good service from all the staff. Thank you very much.

Visited on Boxing Day lunchtime, so some elements may not be entirely indicative of their normal service levels. That caveat aside:Pros:-Excellent and friendly service, really top class.-Excellent range of drink and interesting menu choices.-Sweets are ESPECIALLY good and worth making room for at the end.-Lovely environment, atmosphere and a comfortable if unhurried dining experience.-Freshly cooked, well-seasoned, flavoursome, attractive to the eye and utterly delicious food. There is considerable attention to detail in the serving.>On the bubble-Booking was perhaps a little haphazard. We’d been told one time on the phone, then another later one on arrival but was more or less sorted after a brief discussion with the house team.>Cons-Vegetarian menu options are quite limited in scope and scale. For example, my main (the curry) came in a portion size smaller than most people’s starters – exceptionally meagre I am afraid. Meat eaters seem to do better here. However, what did arrive WAS tasty…I would have just liked an adult portion size!-Prices are typical for a more London centric venue (moderate high), albeit at a level which caused my Midlands eyebrows shot up a little.-There was a moderate delay between ordering and each course arriving – possibly an artefact of the day we were here, and due to everything being freshly cooked! So be prepared to relax and be here a while.

Wonderful staff who were attentive and caring for a family birthday meal.

Stopped from our walk of the local countryside to find a quant in in a village setting. Larger on the inside than out due to the attached barn used as a stylish function room. Four cask ales on tap and the one sampled was good quality and well served by friendly efficient staff. Food good from a me u with lots of choice. Had to remove walking boots as carpets throughout bar area.

The owner dose not have a clue how to run a pub. So disorganised avoid at all

Stopped here on my way during the Chess Valley walk. Amazing pub with great countryside character. Plenty of parking and a big garden to sit in and relax. Very welcoming ownership. Though I didn't eat much here, the food looked rather inviting. A definite recommendation.
