Walking past this pub from Canterbury West railway station towards the town, (The pub) The Cricketers seemed to be a cut above the others. We noticed a sign, 'best fish & chips in C/bury', and they wasn't wrong! The fish is soo white and moist; the light & crispy batter is also what makes this delightful dish the BEST we have ever tasted. Well done The Cricketers.

January's the cruelest month, as many shops, pubs and restaurants in tourist/student places are closed. We happened by for a swift, Brewmaster and Whitstable Pale were on hand pump. The pale was crystal clear and tasted bright along with a sparkling lying clean glass. The log burner was going at the rear of the pub, where the clean toilets can be found. The landlady was discussing the dilemma of Jan opening whilst putting fresh roses into cleaned small vases for each table. It's a Shepherd Neame pub with well kept beer, so too good to just let the students have it.

Nothing to say. Quite simply, a real pub. How we like them. Food, atmosphere, service and beer.... Perfect.
The Truth
Tastefully decorated pub, soothes the heart after a busy day. Without any hassle, we will order drinks at the bar, nice music and not too loud in the back room. Typical British after work atmosphere. We had a happy little time, it was a good drink.

Popped in to the Cricketers Arms after a long drive to Canterbury. We were greeted politely and asked if we would be dining or drinking. Both! The barman was very friendly and ushered us to a table, gave us a menu, told us the curry special (Sri Lanka beef), which we ordered. It was delicious! Very authentic and warming! Great service, tasty food!
Loved it, didn’t want to leave! Great vibe with all age groups and nationalities. Staff friendly and efficient.

Doorman there are absolute scum. Went for a drink and after purchasing, the door man tried to grab a fireman by the throat and tried to throw me out just for walking past and wanting to use the toilet. 100% bunch of jumped up tossers on the door that wouldn’t have done anything if the police weren’t there.

We were visiting from London and stumbled upon this place. We really enjoyed our visit. Great music had us sitting there for ages! Great atmosphere for a Friday evening and very nice, happy, friendly staff. They also showed the sport which was a win win for my husband.
