El Sol Tapas Bar & Restaurant

We were there for their lunch time deal which is £20 for 6 tapases. Super great value and it has more tapases for us to select than we expect. We also bought another octopus tapas. The food is delicious and of good size. We would love to come back all the time if we live close by.

Fabulous find in the centre of Canterbury. Delicious food, and my husband really enjoyed sampling the beers. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and we would definitely recommend.

The menu is not massive but is well thought out and the food and service is amazing definitely not your run of the mill pub grub, in fact I would say it is well up there with quality, taste, value and service hence 5 stars. A highly recommended Real little hidden gem in Canterbury

Fantastic!! Second time returning to here now, came with my father last time and this time with both of my parents, and our dog Skye. They are super dog friendly and paid special attention to our doggy which we was very pleased about! Skye was brought water and dog treats and gave him a lot of fuss? food was superb as always and always get us seated adequately and promptly! Amelia was attentive and had great customer service, and Andy and Anto was outstanding with our fluffy best friend <3 thank you so much guys for making him feel so welcome! And special thanks to Anto for the extra treats!

Il Posticino

Cute authentic Italian restaurant tucked away on a Canterbury side street. The food is incredible and great value for money, especially the set menu! The staff were very friendly and had a good sense of humour about our bad pronunciation! Our waiter was very happy to give recommendations and clearly knew his stuff about the restaurant business. Would highly recommend.

Lady Luck

Great small friendly place on a Saturday afternoon, if you like your rock music. We took our kids and doggy and sat in a booth. My son was overwhelmed with the loud noises at first (his first visit to a real traditional pub), but overcome that when he got to play the free arcade machine. The food was so nice - my kids loved the Chicken Rick and Morty dog, with mini deep fried pickles and I had vegan nachos. They host a lot of live music, so I plan to return without kids. Dog was more than welcome and got lots of fuss - they sell doggy treats. My husband was also very happy with Neck Oil on tap. This place really made our day :D

The Veg Box Cafe

Very well presented, with great friendly staff who are happy to help and explain all the options available. The breakfast was lovely, looked as good as it tatsed. All in a quiet calm atmosphere, with gentle background music. Dog friendly as well. Thank you, will definitely be back!

Probably the best place I have ever eaten! Very calm and friendly atmosphere, the Sunday roasts and the desserts were to die for! My family and I were so happy with everything Thankyou!

The Fordwich Arms

Have been to the Hand & Flowers for Sunday lunch and this place is better.
Marmite & pork fat was pure filth, Snickers desert was even filthier.
Between us we had the Pork and the beef and everything was just incredible. Ridiculously crispy and yet soft roasties, mustard infused cauli cheese, melt in the mouth crackling and to top it all, a proper cheese chariot. Love, love, loved it

You can tell they just want you to have the best dining experience with them.

Nice and traditional inside, which I loved. Too many Indians are becoming ‘contemporary ’ with their decor now and losing sight of customers desire for authenticity!

I ate early (6pm) and was surprised to see how busy it was even at this time, good luck on a Friday/Saturday night.

The reason I marked them a 4 stars for food is I felt the condiments with the popadoms were lacking a bit of flavour. But other than that the food and experience as a whole was exceptional, I’ll be back!

Mezze bar&grill

Food was delicious, I ordered the lamb shank after reading another review on Google and it was exactly what I wanted (it was soothing as not grill or fried) and my boyfriend ordered grilled lamb with the tomato sauce. Service was good too, even we went on a Saturday evening they were extremely busy. I would suggest you order food immediately if you are hungry!

Longport Cafe

I recently visited Longport cafe and had such a wonderful experience that I felt compelled to share. From the moment I walked in, the warm and cozy atmosphere immediately made me feel at ease. The soft lighting, rustic decor, and gentle background music created the perfect setting for both relaxing and catching up with friends.

The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. I ordered the avocado poached egg and a cappuccino, both of which exceeded expectations. The toast was perfectly crunchy and butter ,while the coffee had a rich, smooth flavour with the perfect amount of foam.

What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They checked in without hovering and offered great recommendations with a smile. It’s clear that they take pride in creating a great customer experience.

Overall, Longport is a hidden gem that combines excellent food, a charming atmosphere, and top-notch service. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or lingering over a lazy brunch, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Everything about Citi Terrace was spot on. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the overall atmosphere is easily the best in town. A huge thank you to Ryan,he provided great service and made sure we were comfortable. Highly recommend!

Olive Grove

Staff were very good. Food was tasty and perfectly enjoyable. There were quite a few ants on the sofas upstairs so hopefully they can sort this out!

Despite this, recommended for some nice Italian food in Canterbury.

The Unicorn Inn

A great little pub. I stopped in for a pint and had an awesome conversation with the bar tender, who was as much of a history nerd as I am, and taught me quite a bit about the local history.

Enjoyed a great lunch. Food was excellent as was the service. Price was quite high but the quality and presentation was equal so value was good. Recommended!

The Punch Tavern

I decided to treat my family to Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. Overall the service was fairly satisfactory for the price paid. There was a long wait in between being seated and placing a drinks we had to prompt the staff to be served but once the food and drinks were flowing it was ok. The chef on the main carvery was of a cheery disposition and professional. Overall I’m thankful to those that worked that day so some of us could rest.

Came for the first time earlier this week, the food was delicious, the decor is beautiful and contemporary and the staff were very friendly and efficient, we'll be back..

The Pound at One Pound Lane

This was a great lunch spot. Drinks were great, food was really good too. But the staff were what made it even better. We had just missed the closing time of the Towers, and the manager serving us was able to allow us up for a few minutes to explore. Truly above and beyond! My family and I were really pleased

Not only were the bar mixologists fantastic they knew how to make the most phenomenal, and deadly, drink with Absinthe. I do not remember much after but I so remember I had a fantastic time at The Falstaff!

Cafe Des Amis

Lively and vibrant Mexican restaurant. Young front of house team all faultless and set a great tone. Service was efficient and professional. Food was delightful and authentic. Would certainly return if in the area and definitely recommend. Also recommend to book. Packed at 6pm on a Saturday night.

Mermaid Inn

Thanks so much to Emma and the staff for the wonderful roast on Sunday which was thoroughly enjoyed by all 7 people in our party. Emma kept the kitchen open late especially for us which we were all very thankful. Would definitely recommend The Mermaid.

Great country pub. Lovely vibe in summer or winter. Lots of outdoor space too. Games corner to play with kids. Food is delicious. Hard not to choose the burger every time though ?

The Jackdaw Inn

Excellent! We weren't sure what to expect but my partner wanted to go as it's the pub where the plane pilots went during the war. We went for lunch mid-week and food was outstanding, I had the black bomber burger which was a mince steak patty with cheese & pickled shallots and my partner ham, egg and chips. Service spot on and despite it being mid week at 11.15 the place was almost half full and as we left it was beginning to fill up.

Cafe St Pierre

This place does really good coffee, pastries and cakes. They also serve sandwiches and baguettes. I have had various types of coffee. The almond croissant is absolutely amazing! It was recommended to me by one of the friendly servers. The tarte tartin is also superb

Old Butter Market Canterbury

The best place we've eaten at in our week in Cantebury. They had a great menu with some really delicious options. A nice range of beers and a great atmosphere.

The Chequer Inn - Ash

We have not visited this place for some years... it is so much better under the new management. We had an amazing meal and the menu was very varied. Some of it was very spicy but there was lots of choice and their home made ice cream is a definite yes! The lady who served us was excellent and we went on a thursday evening and it was pretty full so obviously word is out that they have a good chef! We will return.

Griffins Head

First visit to this amazing old pub for my eighth birthday, made very welcomed on arrival. Food was absolutely lovely and the Guinness was 5 star. Had a wonderful birthday and very well looked after by Maggie who is due a baby in the coming months so wishing her all the very best for the future.

Delicious authentic Chinese food cooked with top quality ingredients by experienced chefs from Hong Kong. Very friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. First choice for important dates.

Woody's

Woody’s is easily one of the best hangout spots on campus! Whether you’re grabbing lunch, meeting friends, or catching a game, it’s got everything you need. The food is great—especially the burgers and loaded fries—and it’s all reasonably priced for students.

What really makes it stand out is the atmosphere. There are big screens showing live sports, so it’s the perfect place to watch football or other matches with a crowd. The energy during game nights is brilliant!

Staff are friendly, service is quick, and there’s plenty of space to sit indoors or outside. It’s my go-to spot to relax after lectures or to catch up with mates.

Highly recommend if you’re at Uni Kent!

Really old school pub - I had incredible deja vu as I walked in for the first time. One beer on cask - Gadds No.5 when I visited. Good. Was glad there was a garden - nice to catch the sun. No frills but beer was good.

Castle Street Kebab Shop

Ordered through uber eats and added a special note to please give lots of pickled peppers - they went all out and gave me atleast 25 peppers with 2 combination kebabs. Kebabs were great - lamb shish, kofta and chicken shish.

Just visiting the area for a couple of days, popped in here for some late breakfast and it was delicious! Its a cozy little spot, all the staff were so friendly, the food didn't take long at all and it was amazing. Would definitely recommend

Wonderful service, greeted on arrival by their staff (Omar). And he was pleasant throughout the dine in. Helped us with selection of sauces and other table services.

wagamama canterbury

Nothing stand out compared to other Wagamama chain restaurants, food was of high quality with the exception of the gyoza, they were over cooked so the texture wasn't quite right. Staff were helpful and polite as always, including accomodating for a toddler who wanted to trot about! The kids Bento box deal is great value and my son loved the variety.

Cornwallis Fish Bar

Good food but NOT chip shop curry sauce, for some reason they use Chinese curry sauce? Nice chips though sausage doesn’t seem best quality either but was edible

The Drapers Arms

Came here in December. Only just remembered how wonderful it was. A lovely environment and staff. Served at the bar by darcie (I believe that was her name) and she was very welcoming as I was visiting from out of town. If I’m back I will come visit again.

Secret gem! Since it's not in the center of Canterbury it's easy to be overlooked but the short walk to it is worth it, very calm environment with great food! The staff are friendly and helpful lovely place for dinner

Cinnamon Indian Takeaway Canterbury

Just ordered a take away and wanted to note the following, its been a while since we used Cinnamon but we ordered tonight directly through the app. Food was delivered on time, order was correct and the flavour, quantity and quality of the meal for great! Countryside Kebab & Pizza

Our first experience, and we were pleasantly surprised. It was quick to order on the website and we were able to collect our two pizzas and cheese chips within 15 minutes. Pizzas were very good, and I loved that the cheese was actually melted on the chips haha. Very happy and will be returning in future to try other things ?

Mumchies might just be the most underrated kebab spot around. From the moment you walk in, the smell alone tells you you’re about to eat something serious. The meat is perfectly seasoned, juicy, and actually tastes fresh—not like it’s been sitting around all day.

Fantastic food

I’ve been coming here on and off for over 20 years now and it never fails to impress – still banging out proper quality every time.

We both went for a Dhansak: me with the prawn, my mate Ross with the chicken. The pineapple rice was spot on – big juicy chunks, full of flavour ?

The Peshwari naan was banging, and the Bombay aloo? Absolute perfection.

Finished off with a hot towel and an After Eight – what’s not to love?

Masala Gate

Last weekend was the first time I had eaten here in about 15 years. The jalfrezi was wonderfully authentic, and hot, and the chicken was expertly cooked. The korma was aromatic and extremely tasty. The man who took my order was very polite and professional, as was the delivery driver.

If you are like me and haven't given Masala gate a try in a while, I highly recommend it.

Sadly it was takeaway, I ordered, so I couldn't give stars for atmosphere.

The Best Fish and Chip shop in Canterbury. I have tried all the shops in Canterbury and none of them come near to the quality you get from here. It’s always fresh,not greasy,really hot and great quality. I will not go anywhere else

Cafe du Soleil

Lovely little restaurant by the river. The food was pretty good, portions were generous and really great value for money (I had a two-course lunch). I couldn't quite tell what kind of restaurant it was (Google said Mediterranean, but the food didn't taste like it was from the region, although still pretty tasty). The interior was really cute too. Staff was efficient and polite.

Two Sawyers

Really nice place. Friendly and approachable. Just off Love Lane. Nice location. No parking but plenty around. Quiet in the day and I'll defo return for the jacket potatoes. My mate recommends the fish finnger bap. Thanks guys

Casey was an absolute gem, blew our minds! Drinks were made brilliantly, we had a couple cocktails but the one-on-one magic, honestly, mindblown! Casey was super friendly, brought some cute fun to the table, the magic was spot on, we have no idea how you done it!
Hugely recommend to anyone visiting or passing by, stick your head in, totally worth it <3

Fantastic food freshly prepared we had 3 courses and despite being busy and a member of staff short the service and food was excellent! Definitely will be returning! Staff were fantastic!

Superb cafe. I had an iced latte which was great and the Ukrainian Honey cake which was absolutely divine. The staff were friendly and helpful and even opened up the rear courtyard for me. This cafe is just round the corner from St Augustine’s Abbey so a perfect stop after visiting there. Highly recommended

My favourite pub in Canterbury - a beautiful old building with tonnes of original features. Always a warm welcome from Francis, the manager, and the bar staff are always happy and helpful - very family/couple friendly.

Charming little pub just off the high street with amazing food, can’t fault it at all, and one of the best Sunday roasts in Canterbury. Highly recommend the fish and chips which is a HUGE portion and our go to.

Beer garden/courtyard is cracking in summer, the whole place is clean and well looked after. All around belter of a pub. 10/10. Sheps should be proud of this one!

The White Horse Inn

What an amazing experience. We stumbled upon this pub by pure luck and I am so glad we did! After a lovely walk at a nearby national park, we were very hungry and took the short drive to this pub. We were pleasantly surprised! The service was fantastic, the staff are the kindest people in the world! and the overall atmosphere was like something i've never seen before. The community feel here is fantastic. A beautiful, warm pub with a gorgeous garden to enjoy in the sun. The food was outstanding and also reasonably priced! I can't wait to bring my friends and family back?

A gorgeous country pub in the middle of Wingham. Great staff and service, as well as great food with generous portions. Also dog friendly and does regular events including live music etc. would recommend to anyone!

Nice Village Pub, which provided space, food, and Teas & Coffee for Family wake.
Licencee was very accommodating throughout our time using the pub.

White Hart Inn

Neame do a good line in reliable, pleasant pubs with cosy interiors.
This one also has a large, well equipped garden. I've never eaten here, but if I'm meeting friends who aren't craft beer snobs then this is a top pick.
Really enjoyed sitting by the stove last night after coming in from the cold.

The Yew Tree

We went here for my wife's birthday lunch. A very warm & friendly welcome from the landlady ( co owned with her husband who's the chef )..The pub is very old ,like going back centuries in time and has real charm to it. Garden and outside seating at rear,perfect for those summer lunches and evening meals and drinks. The food was superb main course and dessert..Nothing was too much for our host. We shall certainly be going back here again and take our children and grandchildren. I thoroughly recommend this pub. Though I would recommend making a reservation ( though we didn't it was quiet as we arrived at opening time 12.00 Lunch is served between 12.00 -14.30.) Especially for a Sundsy roast lunch..

Gate Inn

Under new management (since a few months ago), had lunch here during the week (open on a Monday), good varied menu with small items like sandwiches plus the proper menu. Food was excellent, lovely inside with a real fire, still has the rustic feel, plenty of tables.

A lovely, old fashioned pub, with a great selection of ales and drinks on offer.
Surprisingly larger on the inside than it looks from the outside.
A nice beer garden out the back.

Saint Smokeys Bbq house

Superb flavours, chicken is tender and delicious. Overlaps Nando’s and a like massively, would 100% come back. If you haven’t tried this place, why not?! Come!

Solo

A bit out of town, next to wincheap park and ride / Morrisons / B&M etc.
Parked in park & Ride (they do have their own car park) noticed cafe when bus made its way past in traffic, decided to call in for a late breakfast after a quick shop in Canterbury before the crowds.
Excellent freshly cooked breakfast, friendly sand attentive staff, recommended.

Socialite Rooftop Restaurant & Bar

Our UK office is based in Canterbury CT1, this place is a Godsend for entertaining clients - beautiful location, location, location. Food is amazing Staff are Super friendly and - Awesome.
As we meet with other American actors who stay at the Hilton Hotel, it’s total serendipitous that this venue is NEXT DOOR to the Hotel. Perfect.

The Ballroom

Went to the Crash of Moons Club, and saw three bands including Chopchop and The Brackish, who were excellent. Nice venue, high ceilings, excellent sound, reasonable price bar though quite limited options. The toilets weren't great with no lock on a door that didn't close easily and no toilet paper. In spite of that I would happily return for more Crash of Moons Club!

Seven Stars

Come here quite often for Karaoke on a Wednesday, nice atmosphere and friendly enough staff, can get quite busy at times but good enough for a bit of fun and a laugh!

Stumbled on this kitchen after a visit to the cathedral. We had two guide dogs two adults, the space we needed was quickly found. Food was great, service was fantastic. The price of the food makes you wonder how they do it. The only downside for me is I live to far away to visit again

The Maidens Head

We're ending our lovely weekend away with a pint and a coke in very spacious and welcoming environment. Very comfortable sofa to watch the football in. Very nice.

The Beano Cafe

This cafe is a hidden gem- service incredible, portion size amazing, and atmosphere proper! Best place to get some scran to sort you out in Canterbury. Love it. I don’t go a week without seeing my boys in this place!

Oriole at the Lime Tree Cafe

Had breakfast with my sister on valentine's day and it was amazing. There is free customer parking which is such a great bonus. The cafe is really spacious and has lots of tables to choose from, this makes it such a delight as I find the cafes in the centre of town can be a bit cramped. The coffee was superb as was the breakfast. I had the Bagel with salmon and scrambled egg and my sister had the full breakfast. Everything tasted so fresh and full of flavour. You can really tell that the best ingredients have been used to make every meal. We finished off with a big old slice of cake which was equally delicious. The staff are super friendly and attentive without being overwhelming. Can't wait to come back and try the lunch menu.

Sunrise Cafe

First english breakfast in a year, it hit the spot. Really delicious, not overly greasy, perfectly done eggs and a great price. yum. (Coffee coulda been better but still tolerable)

The Real Eating Company

I recently decided to try this cafe on my trip around England and boy it didn’t disappoint. My cheese toastie and hot chocolate were among the best in England. I’d drive the 7 hours in my smart car in order to taste those delicious items once more

Spice Spree Indian Restaurant and Takeaway

This Indian restaurant is a hidden gem. I rarely write reviews, but I want more people to enjoy the excellent food and service. I could only give 3 stars for atmosphere as it was quiet, and we all said that it deserves more patronage. I’m originally from Bradford, so I know a great curry when I have one. The menu has old favourites and house specials. We started with poppadoms and onion bhajis which came with the usual assortment of sauces. Watch out for the lime pickle, though! ?️ We had 5 different mains, 2 of which were vegan and all were excellent. The rice and breads were all perfect. I think the reason it was quiet on a Saturday night is that it is ever so slightly away from the main centre of Canterbury, but it’s still inside the city walls.

The Bell & Crown

Had a few afternoon pints in The Bell & Crown with my dog in tow. They made a nice fus over the dog gave her treats and water it was really nice. Worth a visit if your passing. Enjoy!

The Penny Theatre

The Penny Theatre is a brilliant spot in Canterbury for a fun night out or a relaxed afternoon. The atmosphere is always lively, with a great mix of people, sports on the screens, and a cracking soundtrack playing in the background . The building itself has a cool history, having been a music hall back in the 1700s, which gives it a unique character .

We came for the bottomless brunch and it was fantastic value for money. The food was tasty and well-cooked, and the drinks kept flowing. What really stood out was the service – staff like Tee-Jay, Ellie, Connor, and Katie have been mentioned by name for being super attentive and making sure glasses were never empty . They're brilliant with dietary needs too, asking about allergies before you even order .

It's also a top spot to watch the football or UFC with loads of screens and a great atmosphere . The team are friendly, the food is decent pub grub, and the vibes are always good.

Ossie's Fish & Bar Canterbury

Absolutely delicious fish and chips! The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the chips were fresh and golden. Great portions, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!
There is no place for sitting with your many friends. It was cheap and yummy per person 8.5pound.

Lost Sheep Coffee

Coffee for coffee snobs like me. In every city I explore coffee shops in search of the perfect coffee and this one is leading the way in Canterbury so far. Good grains, with a pleasant acidity, are not bitter at all. The milk is whipped into a dense, stable foam and is not overheated. I recommend ❤️

Best Kebab

Absolutely spot-on there was a young guy on his own serving very friendly. I couldn’t be more helpful which was fantastic as normally people just raise an eyebrow not in this case that’s before we got to the food which is absolutely amazing i’m a definite kebab man for the last 40 years and this is the best kebab not one of the best kebab I’ve had is incredible not sure how these guys do it but I wish all the others could take a leaf out of their book. Absolutely spot-on fantastic food, lovely people at a great price. I so wish I found them earlier instead of wasting my time with all the other fake kebab shops. I suppose you live and learn and all I can do is recommend it for everyone else but do me a favour please try it and if I’m wrong which I won’t be in this case absolutely hundred percent

Waitrose Cafe Canterbury

It is a lovely place for coffee and food. Great service, helpful, friendly staff. Especially from Amber, a nice pleasant and polite young lady.
