Delicious. The meat was so tender that when I cut it, it felt like cutting butter.Everything was super good, well cooked and with high quality ingredients…the cacciucco and the Valpolicella red wine were simply Exceptional!Maybe the place and atmosphere itself could be a little improved to make the place cosierbut apart from that, the quality of the food, the service and the kindness of the staff make the restaurant a guarantee.Highly Recommended if you fancy some genuine and quality Italian dishes! Thanks for making my birthday soooo special

The Cook's Tale Restaurant
14-15 Beer Cart Ln, CanterburyWent here for the first time for a birthday dinner and loved it. Food was amazing - I'm not vegetarian but couldn't resist the vegetable thali which was great. When the mixed starter arrived, my companion remarked (not critically) that it was less substantial than she expected and our server responded by bringing us 2 or 3 extra little nibbles free of charge while we waited for the mains.Atmosphere was pleasant, enhanced by a brilliantly eclectic pianist who chucked the "lounge standards" songbook out the window and had me playing Guess the Tune all evening.I moved back to Canterbury last year after a long time away and this was by far the best dining experience I've had since my return. I'll definitely be back.

The atmosphere is slightly lacking, could have been better mood lighting and the decor is nice but basic, however, the staff were attentive and the plum wine was so delicious. It's not a fine dining establishment but it is great for a more relaxed place to eat. Probably perfect for a lunch venue. Definitely recommend if you love Asian cuisine!

The quality and quantity of both tea and food goodies was good. we chose to have a couple of glasses of champagne which also went down well. Whilst it was nice to site next to a window and watch both the good and the strange of Canterbury passing by, I did find it odd that we we seated at the smallest table in the bar which is awkward when you consider the amount of tableware required for an afternoon tea! Phoebes Canterbury
56, 57 Ivy Ln, CanterburyAs a local, Phoebes is my go-to place when I want to have coffee or lunch out with a friend. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented, and I'm not a cake person but they do look rather appealing! The welcome is always very warm and inclusive too and the service is excellent. I'm autistic and struggle with the noise and activity of the larger chains in town so the smaller, calm space of Phoebes really suits me. Also, I regularly meet with a trans friend at Phoebes because I know that it's a safe and comfortable place for both of us, and she has never felt anything other than valued by the staff. I cannot recommend Phoebes highly enough if you want coffee and cake or a light lunch, and especially if you want it in an olde worlde venue. They offer such great quality and value - and a big smile!

Spice Spree Indian Restaurant and Takeaway
87-88 Northgate, CanterburyGreat flavours with the dishes. Staff are polite. However, what let it down was when the waiter brought the curries to the table, forgot our rice and saag bhaji, but I reminded the waiter. He returned after a few minites with only the rice. I prompted again about my side dish, which he then said wasn't on the original order our waitress took, but went back to the kitchen where it was made fresh. Unfortunately by the time it arrived, we had finished our meal. I ate the side dish alone (was nice quality but if I had waited to eat it with the rest of my main, the meal would have been cold). The waiter did apologise for the delay, stating they were busy. The restaurant was not even half full though. We had been in the restaurant for 50 minutes by the time our mains arrived. We had only had 2 poppadoms to start between 2 of us during that time; so I felt the service was a little slow.

St. Dunstans St, CanterburyUnexpectedly good experience, considering it's on a busy intersection. Great and friendly barmaids, and surrounded by lovely people having conversations instead of eating (though there's food available - but it doesn't interfere with the pub vibe) or looking at their

Two Sawyers
58 Ivy Ln, CanterburyA very quaint little pub very handily located if you are staying in the nearby Travelodge, but well worth seeking out if you are just exploring the many pubs Canterbury has to offer. The management definitely like their twinkly lights on strings as the place is filled with them (prob a bit too many for my liking) but it does add. A certain charm in the dark evenings. Definitely one I would go back to!

Cafe du Soleil
5 Pound Ln, CanterburyBeautiful restaurant with attentive and lovely staff. The food was excellent but a little under seasoned for my palette, but there was salt and pepper on the table to adjust as you see fit. Menu was balanced with options for any diet. Perfect for a romantic date or just a nice meal with friends and family.

Lily's Social Kitchen CIC
15 Palace St, CanterburyStumbled across this little gem whilst investigating the beautiful back streets of Canterbury. The staff were great and explained about the donation policy and no price list, what a wonderful idea and a great organisation. Staff couldn’t be any eager or helpful. Great food, great drinks. We will definitely be returning.

The Fordwich Arms
King St, Fordwich, CanterburyWe had an amazing lunch at this beautiful Michelin starred pub. The food, atmosphere and service were great. We did the al a carte which is 3 courses with snacks and bread for £75. Between the three of us, we got a different starter, main and dessert each to share which was a great decision to try different dishes. My favourites were the lobster (supplement), scallop, hake and venison. Sam looked after us and was super friendly and knowledgeable.

Posillipo - Canterbury
15-16 Borough, CanterburyEasily one of the best places to go in Canterbury. Been a couple of times and each time the quality of the food is superb, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere is quite something. Yesterday we walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation and they happily accommodated us. Most of all, the value for money is just great and hard to beat.

Il Posticino
61 Dover St, CanterburyThe restaurant offers a great variety of proper Italian dishes as well as a few which are typical for the Tuscan cuisine.

The Yew Tree
32 Westbere Ln, CanterburyI went with family to this pub and it was my sister who had chosen it, so knew nothing about it beforehand. There looked to be a nice beer garden outside and inside had a nice atmosphere, lovely beams and felt quite cosy. Now I'm not normally a fan of sunday lunch, since its hard to beat your own mothers cooking (I'm sure everyone says that!). So I was very pleased to see different options on the menu that weren't your traditional Sunday choices. Almost everyone in our party had a different choice for starter and main and all the choices were very much enjoyed! The service was great with the server asking what sauces we wanted before our food came out, definately a rare feature these days. Lots of pubs would do well to do the same, as who wants to wait for sauces when then meal has already arrived? Overall everyone enjoyed the meal, the service and good value as well considering the quality of the food. I have to say I thought the honey soy (and was it ginger, I can't remember) ribs were great. It's a shame that we are not local, as otherwise we would all be back here in a heartbeat! Definately recommended if you are in the area!

Cafe Des Amis
95 St. Dunstans St, CanterburyEven though we now live many miles from this lovely restaurant we still dream of their delicious food regularly! By far the best Mexican restaurant we have tried in the entirety of the UK and we LOVE mexican food! When we found ourselves travelling through the lovely city of Canterbury a few weeks ago, we couldn’t help but stop just to return to Cafe Des Amis. We had the same food we always had when we lived in Canterbury and were once again blown away. The cocktails are always delicious too! 10/10! Definitely visit here if you find yourselves in the area!
