Visited for Sunday lunch on Mothering Sunday with our 3 month old daughter - the first time we had been out for dinner since she was born. Our table was not ready when we arrived at the booked time and we had to wait at the bar. Eventually we were shown to our table and ordered our food. My starter was a prawn cocktail which arrived in a martini glass without a plate, very bizarre. We then ordered more drinks and some hot water to heat up a bottle for our daughter; this took over half an hour to arrive by which time she was overtired and unable to eat properly. The main course arrived on searing hot plates but all the food was cold, the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and the lamb was 50% fat. By the time our plates were cleared, our daughter was asleep and so we asked the waitress how long dessert would be if we were to order it. We were told very rudely that it would be a while, it wasn't her fault and not to have a go at her!! We left without dessert in the end and we're charged the full amount for the meals even though we had been made to pay a deposit to secure the booking! Terrible service and food, do not recommend.

Very disappointed! We booked for Mother’s Day which I understand is a busy time but we waited 45mins to get drinks, when we kept asking the server just kept saying we’re really busy! Eventually we got food and hour and 15min later, the food was cold! So cold my husband could put his little finger in the cauliflower cheese without burning it! When I said to the server our food is cold she basically said what do you want me to do about it, the overall attitude of the staff was shocking to say the least, barely an apology just excuse of staff being sick it and it being busy. Sorry but if I book i don’t expect it to be my fault for poor service and food.Having been here pre-covid for many enjoyable visits sadly we won’t be returning!

Where to start, got there and offered tap water, then was given the menu and no where near the same as online, had the crayfish starter and sent it back after one bite as no taste and no sauce, water at the bottom so was frozen, then had the lobster only to be told dosnt come with anything, then asked to have some sides and got told we don’t do them but will ask the chef, then it came 2 bites of lobster and was gone, chips were awlful and onions rings were chewy. Then the moment my fork hit the table they cleared the table. We were there for a hour what a joke. I will never go there again and will tell everyone to avoid.

We went for the valentines evening and I have to say I was disappointed. It was my first ever visit and heard great things so was disappointed by not only the food but the atmosphere. Firstly on atmosphere, it’s was very flat, no decoration for Valentine’s Day, sat on table by the door. The only bonus was the rose and choccie at the end.Food wise-Starter of halloumi did not go well with the couscous , flavours did not contrast and had a funky smell. Have two bites and left it.Main of seabass was due to come with triple cooked chips and bone marrow sauce but instead came with tortellini (which I can’t eat as unable to eat pasta) and a bland tomato jus. There was no explanation to change in menu nor was we previously advised.Unfortunately,I don’t think I would ever come back for food. Nice for maybe a drink though instead

I had my birthday party here and it was brilliant. Stuart (excellent chef) made fantastic tasting bowls of food for the guests which were delicious. The variety was excellent and all of it was incredibly tasty! The pub as always was incredibly welcoming and full of fun. Byron and Leah were as always fantastic and they really worked hard to make the evening outstanding. Thank you!

So disappointing when eating out one expects to find food presented as good as what you eat at home and as cooked by professional chefs much better. Vegetables are either under or overcooked and not much flavour, I had roast beef and was ok on a previous visit I had pork which was too tough to eat, you might ask why I ate there again but was invited by friends who paid the bill.why do many Sunday lunches include oversized Yorkshire puddings that are totally tasteless. Would love to see this pub to succeed as the interior is just what you want from your local. I hope the staff take their reviews seriously and act upon them.

The service was good and friendly. There is a selection of local ales. The food was ordered and arrived in a reasonable time. The food was good and we had no complaints. It just lacked slightly on presentation.
