Lovely pub with friendly staff. The food we ordered was actually homemade and it was delicious. The lamb was so tender that was coming off the bone. I would definitely recommend a stop.

We do not eat out very often due to finances but when we d we like to feel we are getting quality. Every time we eat here we love the quality. I had a burger with pineapple and bacon and it really was good. I believe it's from the local butcher. My wife had a roast (beef) and she was happy with the quality and the portion size. The staff are excellent and always make sure everything is ok. It's a treat for us to go out for lunch and this really was a lovely way to start our Christmas. 10/10 - again!

Brilliant to find a proper old school British pub. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, good selection of drinks on tap and an excellent atmosphere generally. Would highly recommend.

We always visit the Kings Head on our annual visit to Kingsdown, and were not disappointed with our recent visits. Traditional pub, friendly staff, good selection of ales and excellent home-cooked food. They have an interesting range of specials, in addition to their standard menu, and great choices for vegans. And the real chips are not to be missed.

Called in for food, was told no tables due to quiz night, it was empty, we went down the road had a drink at the Zetland then went for food in the Rising sun, and walked back up the hill past this place and it was still empty, could it be they do not want campers in there on quizz night ?There loss we had several drinks two meals and two sweets so they lost our money and we will not visit again. They did not even try to accomodate us point blank No. We would of been happy to sit at the bar or in the tap room.Your reply just shows how you treat others, you obviously do not know what a snowflake is, you have simply heard the word and feel it makes you sound good.I did get what I wanted, I got a lovely meal and a cold beer and received great service, met some great locals just not in your place. The way you have taken my review you appear to be overly emotional and easily offended, Sounds like your Snow flake comment refers to you.If your kitchen staff could not cope with two extra covers you have a serious problem, I guess that must be your problem you can not cope with more than 5 covers.

We visit this lovely family owned freehouse often as we love the food and atmosphere. The menu caters for a range of tastes, and you should keep an eye out for the specials. The Landlord's special fish and chips is a particular treat, showing real vision in the kitchen. There is a great variety of drinks on offer, and you can buy a tasting sample of the ales without the need to buy blind, which I see as a great idea. There is a good selection of wines which are well priced, unlike the eye-watering prices experienced at some other establishments in the area.

A pretty pub, if a bit pokey, with a small, dark, outside rear garden with skittles. It’s a free house, so we thought we’d have an ale, or two. I had Gadds No 5. Very nice. She wanted to taste the Gouchers as we’re unfamiliar with that beer. The management wanted 50 pence to try it! What? Won’t be going there again. Poor service ethic.

My friends and I visited while we were roadtripping and camping through the UK per the recommendation of the campsite and we were so happy we did.The pub is everything I'd expect (as an American) of an old English pub. It was small, warm, welcoming, and had great beer. The owner even made us complimentary sandwiches at the end of the night while we were finishing up our last beers. We were by far the youngest people in the pub but we didn't feel out of place. Everyone was welcoming and even came over to talk to us.We didn't get a chance to try to the food because we came in late in the evening, but everything on their menu and in the reviews looks great as well.If I'm ever back in the area, I'd make this a must-visit. Cheers!
