Excellent service, food was good, cutlery wasn't the cleanest. Atmosphere - quiet but it was a couple of days after Christmas. Decor really needs updating. From the outside it looks dreadful, scaffolding, peeling paint, rubbish

We got stuck in traffic on A2 and managed to get off so stopped here for something to eat and to answer the call of nature.Service was slow, toilets were disgraceful, food was less than ok and it was cold and dirty inside the building.I would only recommend this if you are desperate.

We as a group of 7, booked a table on the 17th December 5pm and got our starters an hour later. Approximately it took another 2 hours to get our main courses and deserts. The Christmas turkey meals were tepid and dry. A desert of apple pie and custard was served up on a dinner plate. Front of house service was almost non existent and people were queuing for long periods, some giving up and leaving. The restaurant and bar are severely under staffed which is no fault of the waiting personell. Obviously, the management.care more about profit than customer satisfaction.

I made an online booking and turned up with my family for breakfast to find a note on the door explaining they were closed. No email or call to say it was closed before turning up and then it was very difficult to find somewhere else last minute. Not a good experience. You wouldn't expect to be able to make a booking if it's not open.

Went for Christmas dinner. Food was fine and service was good until after the meal. We was suppose to have mince pies and coffee to finish, but once we had dessert didn’t see any staff for over an hour and had to look around for staff to pay or drinks bill so we could leave. We was given the mince pie in some tin foil to take away . Up to that point it was ok . We was on a table in a corner and just forgotten about . At that point the restaurant was almost empty apart from two other tables . A Christmas atmosphere was definitely missing not even a table cloth or a small table decoration . No Christmas lights around ti make it a bit more festive. Very dull and dirty looking . Not sure i would go there again for a Christmas meal

We went as a family of 9 (5 adults , 4 children) . We all had nice food and good service from our young waitress. However a couple of things spoilt it from being 5*. My wife ordered Beer battered fish n chips but breaded Haddock was served for her and another adult , with the explanation being “ well it’s the same fish, Haddock!” No explanation was given as to why it wasn’t Beer battered. Then I ordered a Steak , which was lovely but ordered as an extra Garlic prawns @£4.99. I was stunned when only 2 prawns were served in a scallop shell ! For the price I’d expect about 4 prawns . Just things that would’ve made our experience that little bit better

We booked at the Woodlands for a pre Christmas lunch. It is a restaurant that we have visited many times over many years. How can it have been allowed to go downhill so badly? Everything about the environment is depressing, it is worn, unkempt and grubby. The only reason I have given 3 stars is that the food was ok and the waiting staff were cheerful and doing their best. This place needs closing down and refurbishing now.

I went with my friends and we had a lovely time. However, I noticed that this place doesn't have many vegetarian options. They mainly rely on the boring veggie burgers for alternative options. But, they do have a few dishes that can be made vegan for a little extra cost.Vegetarian options: Very limited boring options.Parking: Register inside

We had the Christmas menu, the cheese fondue starter was meant to have Brioche but instead had 1 single thin slices of seeded bread obviously from their breakfast menu. The caramelised onion confit was also missing. I paid to upgrade the steak to fillet and it looked like rump when it came out, fatty and medium rare when I asked for rare. Good was cold due to slow service (low amount of staff). The potatoes were raw in the middle, my friends Brussels were hard as rocks. The manager gave us a discount but not only didn’t remove the potatoes extra £5 for the fillet upgrade but it seemed to jump to £9 so the £20 discount wasn’t really worth it. The toilets were vile with tissues on the floor and what looks like dried sick splattered on the cubicle door. The only reason this gets 2 stars was because our waitress was lovely. Will not be returning if I can help it.

We were a party of 7 and popped in for a late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday afternoon booking through Google only a few hours before we ate at 15:00. The staff were incredibly accommodating, really friendly and our waitress was fantastic. Everyone really enjoyed their mains and desserts (there were only bones left on the plates) and we had a very fun and relaxing afternoon. Highly recommend the Biscoff Sundae.

Was delicious food but was upset when we found out when paying the bill that the mains we ordered were not in the 50% off Black Friday deal. We checked when we got home and Of course they were crafty by leaving it in the small print the exclusions.Overall lovely service and delicious 8 oz steaks. The big down side was the minor money grabber leaving us looking like idiots.

We,four adults arrived at 7.30 having booked a table.US and 2 other groups were waiting at the book in desk (blocking the path to the gents loo) for 15 mins before someone came to seat us. Meal was ok and young lady waitress was brilliant. But, no wine glasses had our wine in brandy glasses. After the meal wanted smirnoff vodka but only vodka they had was a raspberry one! Decided on a brandy but that was not in a brandy glass? all used on wine I suppose. Will not rush back.

Overpriced and understaffed, a long wait for our food which apart from a side order that we had to chase up and was then still frozen!
