We missed our ferry back to tilbury by seconds literally watching it pull away from the pier . So first thought is we’ve got half an hour till the next one and the nearest pub is this . So a quick beer was had in very pleasant surroundings in an old timber beamed pub steeped in history with quirky staircases lots of different floor levels and Thames views . What’s not to like ? And a person fifty plus would remember seeing a bar billiards table in a pub occasionally, but personally I haven’t seen one this century! Or less dramatic , for twenty five years ! Anyway what seemed like a time wasting pint turned into a pleasant experience. Thanks to all at the daws hotel

Sitting outside on a lovely warm day, eating nice food, pleasantly served, with a lunchtime drink ! What more would anyone want !

We just came across the pub on an adhoc visit to Gravesend. It was busy, and we hadn't booked, but they found us a table, the staff were friendly and helpful. The Sunday roast was delicious, and you can order a small or large portion depending on your appetite. We had the small, but it was still very generous and good value. The pub is situated by the Thames path Overlooking the river by the pier, it is in a perfect position. We would definitely visit again when in the area.

Really nice food and pub full of history. Right by the Thames and a absorb walk away from the town centre and train station.

I love this pub but £15 for a frozen burger and chips from frozen didn't feel great. Staff didn't come to check on us. I'll go back, I do love the pub but that was one miss after several enjoyable meals there.

When London Port was busy, with lots of ships anchoring in Gravesend Reach awaiting berths further upriver, the Three Daws was one of the pubs favoured by seamen from all over the world. This meant it was also the preferred boozer for the various locals who worked in the shipping world. As such, it was a vibrant pub with a wee bit of a rough edge. Move forward many years and it is a modern style pub that clearly sees dining as a major part of the business but, pleasingly, still has plenty of room for the simple drinker. It’s a very smart pub and the service was welcoming and friendly. The only downside is that some of the bar staff clearly haven’t been taught how to pour lager and were filling glasses to the brim, with no head, resulting in flat beers. Simple solution - ask all bar staff to look up countless lager adverts and see that they all have pictures of crisp lagers with a generous white topping. To be fair, when I took my lifeless pint back, another member of staff changed it and, at my request, put a decent head on it.

My personal experience was not great however other members of our group thought it was okay, the food was of low standard and tasteless

we went for sunday lunch yesterday - very disappointing food use to be so good here but sadly not anymore. we had the roast beef -this was cut very thin and without the gravy would have been very dry and over cooked .roast potatoes were awful -they tasted like they had been warmed up -not nice at all. the veg was a bit dull just a few carrots, green beans and quite a few sliced up parsnips - not great! no cauliflower cheese and not even the option of a side dish as an extra.service . the desert menu was also a little dull ,we were going to get something as we were still hungry but service was so slow we gave up. unfortunately we wont be going back until we hear of an improvement

We came for dinner in a group of 6. One person got the wrong meal, but it was taken away and changed. I had the lamb roast and it was very nice. I asked for mint sauce, but unfortunately I had to ask four times before it arrived. By that time I had eaten more than half of my meal, even though we had waited for the other meal to arrive before starting. Another member of our party ordered the sausage and mash. It wasn't very big, and came with no vegetables. He said it tasted good but but was disappointed by the size. The lady that seemed to be in charge was very friendly and helpful. I couldn't fault her.

Used to love this pub but following a recent visit this has changed. Rude bar staff. Summer evening so sat outside. My 14 year old daughter was accused of drinking fruit cider and my son was refused service. She had been drinking j2o all evening and they supposedly had cctv proof. As this was untrue my son asked to see it, which they refused. Things did get heated as my son was called a liar and a c**t . (charming!) Will never go back.

Nice place but my only gripe, I ordered fish and chips as I’m by the sea but so disappointed to have frozen chips on my dinner, c’mon got to have proper chips with fish, would have scored higher

Sonny Rocks!
