FANTASTIC MOTHERS DAY MEALWe were greeted with a friendly, warm welcome by the staff on arrival. The pub has a cosy feel, with a beautiful open fire. We all had the 3 course set mother’s day menu. The roast sirloin beef was absolutely delicious. The roast potatoes were cooked to perfection, crispy! Just how I love them! I now know why Sundays are particularly busy. The staff were kind and attentive. The bar staff also make a great espresso martini. Had this not been Mother’s Day I would have called my girlfriends down just to sit and work our way through the whole cocktail list! We will definitely be back and try out the mid week menu.

Went with friends last night, table for 4. Food was delicious, and although the serving staff were young. They were very polite, friendly and efficient. We got a bit tipsy on the Stellenbosch red wine, and will definitely be going back. Highly recommended.

Great food, finest ales and an extensive selection of fine wines. A great choice for the discerning patron. Combine this with friendly staff and a beautiful period building, the G&D is a must anytime I am in the area. (2024 update: Still the most amazing food! Never a let-down)

We found this pub entirely by chance, looking for somewhere just off the M25 to stop on a damp, cold Tuesday lunchtime and we couldn’t have chosen anywhere better. We found a warm welcome, a roaring log fire, a busy dining room and a good menu with generous portions of well cooked food. We can recommend the venison burger and steak sandwich, while the 3 course set menu looked like cracking value at just over £20. It’s set in a pretty village and the garden looked as though it would be very pleasant on a sunny day. All in all a good find, and if we’re ever back in that part of the world we’d return with pleasure.
