They NEVER answer the phone and you cannot book online. How are you supposed to book a table?

Mark Burton

I booked a table for 15 and when I arrived I was told they didn’t do table for 15 so we had to split up on to three different tables I said that was sant good enough. The lady said she would move the tables around witch she didn’t so I did the tables didn’t fit right as there was two circular and one long. The service wasn’t great they needed more staff. The menu was just Sunday roast they came on random bits of paper some had a kids menu one some didn’t.The food has good warm and to a good standard. The desert wasn’t great I ordered a Sunday that was on the menu it came out as two lumps of ice cream and some brownies half full in a glass very plane and bland. I was they told they mad is special for me to witch I pointed out it’s on the desert board. The staff didn’t speck to each other and the main person didn’t seem like she really wanted us there. To cap it all off they over charged us by £70 because they didn’t know what they was putting on the order form.Hire some one to take charge of the food side of the pub and this could be back to its former glory.Parking: Large car park

Had a family lunch together inc our 4 week old grandson & 2 shetland sheepdogs. They sat us in our own little booth, which was great. The food was delicious, big portions and v friendly staff. Free car park & grounds to walk the dogs. Would definitely recommend.

Have not been here for many years as the place went absolutely down hill under the previous owner. Anyway, decided to have lunch there today to see if it had improved under new management. Well, it most certainly has! Very clean and very welcoming. We asked for a mulled wine and although not advertised they had no problem making one for us. Also, the lemonade in the tap had run out and my drink was exchanged without me even asking! We ordered food and it was excellent, as was the service. Very happy to be able to put the White Swan back on the list of places to eat locally. Here’s hoping that the new team make a success out of the place because it’s transformed from the grubby place it used to be. Highly recommend anyone who used to go there to give it a visit.

My first visit for many years - wow what a transformation! The place now looks fresh, cosy and welcoming - and has everything you want in a local country pub/restaurant. Our food and drinks came swiftly, meals perfectly cooked and so tasty. Portion sizes were generous! Staff were friendly, happy and welcoming and were very helpful and obliging. I had my small Jack Russell rescue dog, and he was made just as welcome... which made my day. We had a lovely afternoon there, truly a little gem and wish the new owners all the best for the future.

This is our local Pub and a shame to say our first visit since its re-opening. We went there for lunch with a friend and were very pleasantly surprised. The decor was more cosy and the setup very clean. We were greeted by Helen who turned out to be the new Manager. She was very friendly and polite. We were given the menus and quite impressed with the selection available; £16 for two courses and £19 for three. You could also have a light lunch with a selections of sandwiches or go for the straight or special menus, more than what was offered by the previous owners. For a country pub we couldn’t fault the food. The staff were friendly and attentive and we’ll certainly be going again. I have seen a couple of negative comments regarding The White Sean on social media complaining about various aspects; staff, prices and quality of food, I can only assume that this was teething problems when the pub first re-opened or the typical scenario where some customers on Tripadvisor typically only write about bad experiences and never the good ones. Incidentally our friend bought his four legged friend with him and as long as it was on a lead, it wasn’t a problem. I don’t write many reviews on Tripadvisor but I felt this was warranted to support our local pub. There is no reason from what I saw why this can’t be a thriving business over the Christmas period, leading into next year and we certainly look forward to returning soon and having a drink in the garden during the summer.

Went there yesterday to check out the new look... looks lovely.. but the food was not that great, and the table we were given which was in the corner area was awful as we were bombarded with flies around us and on our food.Certainly put us off!!

Delicious food, fantastic staff. Had our dinner indoors and then carried on with drinks outside. Kids loved the play area outside. I will definitely be returning.

I have just got back from an unfortunately VERY disappointing meal here today. I was recommended this place by a friend who said the food was great, and as it is so local to me we thought we would try. However, we went in and first off the only menu was a Sunday one which just offered various meats with standard roast accompaniments, no matter o chose a steak as it said it came with chips and onion rings. My first mistake. Secondly we ordered some bread and olive oil and balsamic dip. And a lamb shank. It took 53 minutes for the kitchen to send out our order and we didn’t even get the bread and olive oil to pick on. We had to ask a very rushed looking waitress how long table 59 would be, and could we at least have our bread and dip. She went in and came out another 5 minutes later with two plates one with bread and oil and another with some kind of pate on it. I said straight away we hadn’t ordered it so she took it away and then reappeared 5 minutes later carrying the same plate and saying that we had in fact paid for it so it was ours. No refund or apology was offered so I graciously said ok, we will try it. It was AWFUL, really warm pate and the bread was dry. Awful. Now onto the mains; My steak turned up with peas which I did not order. It was also bland and unseasoned and was brought dry with no sauce options or anything. I ate a few mouthfuls and ate 5 chips and I honestly couldn’t eat anymore as it was just tasteless and chewy. The lamb shank was ok, the gravy with it had no flavour at all and there was no salt or pepper offered or on the table at all ??‍♀️.We waited another 35 mins and no one came over to check or ask us if everything was ok. In the end. We got so fed up we left.I am incredibly disappointed, I never moan or put up reviews but I actually feel seriously unhappy that a meal for two cost me £65 in a mediocre setting and was flavourless. That combined with being charged for a starter neither of us would ever order in a million years and the fact we had to clear our own table and dust ash off of it gave me an experience I’m massively unhappy about. For a restaurant with apparent 4 stars online it was mediocre at best. And that is only because the lamb shank and a few mushrooms on my plate were edible and I was hungry!I really would like to hear back from someone, and for you to morally do the right thing and have my ‘unordered’ starter refunded back to me at some point. I have no issue in returning in the future however I would like some assurance that the whole experience will be far better and that all the issues here are addressed to give me an incentive to come back again.

We had a lovely time at the White Swan. Friendly, helpful staff. We had three different main courses and in each case the food was tasty and plentiful. We will eat there again Definitely worth a visit.

Had family Sunday lunch here. Nice roast dinners, friendly service and good little children’s play area outside.
