New Years Day lunch which was outstanding in every respect. The service, quality of the food and the overall ambience were truly excellent and when judged on a value for money basis in my opinion scored highly given the overheads quality establishments incur..Food & drinks: It thoroughly deserves its Michelin Star.

Have been keen to try Lisa's menu for some time, and it was well worth the wait! We had cocktails and the 5 course tasting menu. Was clear why the candy floss cocktail was a competition winner, incredibly tasty and highly original. The 5 courses were flawless, with the mushroom dish my clear winner. The wines beautifully matched by a knowledgeable sommelier. Front of house outstanding! Basically, totally unsurprising it's held it's Michelin star for so long. Congratulations for being the complete package, excellent...!

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and great food.Bed was too soft for us and brought us wrong sandwiches when ordered from the bar.Don't let those two things put you off, well worth a visit.

Had a meal here with some friends as one of the party was celebrating a special birthday. The staff and service was amazing and we were well looked after. The food was good but didn't expect such small portions to be honest especially as it was expensive. But it was a great experience and we all really enjoyed it.

Our second visit to celebrate my 70th birthday part funded by generous vouchers gifted from the family. Booked the Gourmet Break offer with Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. Effortless check in and pleasant surprise of an upgraded luxury room (8) on the ground floor and exterior patio with seating. Pre-dinner drinks and Lisa Goodwin-Allen’s excellent 5 course Gourmet Menu with Vegetarian/Pescatarian options all served by smart, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Extensive wine list beyond comprehension without advise of our sommelier in training who was able to give expert recommendations within our budget. Following a good nights sleep experienced the famous Northcote breakfast extensively sourced from local producers which kept us going on our journey home! Until the next time.

Went for a special night away and been wanting to come here for ages - yes we did have a standard room but disappointingly seemed dated and not similar to photos on the website - and to not have a full length mirror that you can actually stand back from is disappointing for the standard and luxury the hotel promotes. Couldn’t get into the bar as it was packed so were seated in an area in what I’d call the foyer……no atmosphere and a bit soulless……so we regretted ordering a drink. Would have rather just stayed in our room until our table time. Food in the restaurant was lovely and the staff in the restaurant lovely but we kept having to ask for our wine to be topped up and our water refilled. And between one course there was a very very long wait. Wondered if there was a problem. we were put on the smallest table even though other lovely window tables were free? We just felt it was all rather formulaic - nothing special - a mistake made by a member of staff on something resulted in a single rather blunt I’m sorry and then walking away - shame as we had high expectations but a night away at the price maybe not to be repeated.
