went in Saturday night, wanted a real ale. all 5 pumps were off, no ale on a Saturday. my wife wanted a G&T, it came in a wine glass, I asked if they could change for a large GT glass. barman said they have only 1 in the building. when paying on Apple Pay, card machine wanted my card, I didn't have it so someone with me had to pay. a shambles.

you have to be lucky, once they serve it well but the next time they burn something, if you want a medium steak you have to order it

Dog friendly area.Separate areas for eating. Very spacious. Good selection of Real Ales. New menu, but not available was the vegetarian lasagne, sea bass . There take on Hunters Chicken was ok. Plenty of it! Great place for a family meal. Very festive.

Upon receiving food was told we had to get our own knives & folks .Not a problem. But why were we not told this when we ordered food .The till is the first point of call they should mention this if you order food .

This review is purely from today's visit. We ordered a starter & then the Sunday Roast. The starter- Mushrooms £5.29 was unbelievable ?No presentation & did not look like it should of cost £5.29 (I will post a photo of this)The Sunday roast was very well presented, & plenty on tbe plate, but....It was instant mash "Smash"The cauliflower needed a steak knife & just loads of peas & carrots which you could tell were frozen veg.Stuffing ball- burnt, but the meat & the Yorkshire were good!We did have to chase up my daughters pudding. We did see other dishes being served off the menu (Not Sunday Roast) & I've got to say they did look good.Unfortunately not for us today, very disappointed ?

Visited yesterday for a family get together. Asked for as quiet a table as possible for a busy restaurant and again the staff kindly obliged. The staff are very friendly, professional and nothing is too much trouble. The food came out very quickly and it was delicious. A couple of us indulged in a dessert and they were very kind in swapping ice cream/cream for custard for my daughter. It is so pleasing to visit a restaurant who can help in this way and it certainly means we will visit again. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely meal. I forgot to take photos, will try harder next time

Really good relaxing atmosphere. Good food, fish and chips especially. My steak and ale pie was tasty but just a little overcooked. Staff were as always very pleasant and everything was clean. One of my favourite places for a quick cheap meal. With two main meals for only £11.99 you can’t go wrong. Also soft drinks at a realistic price.Parking: Don’t forget to enter your registration number into the parking machine just inside the pub otherwise you will be fined.

Visited the Thatch & Thistle twice this week for meals while working in the area.We ordered on the Greene King app which worked a treat, was not in a rush so rather than stand at the bar - let us chat and chill while the drinks and food came to use when ready. On one day I had the steak with peppercorn sauce, and the other the chicken skewers mix with fries and side salad on peppers. Both meals served perfectly - and thoroughly enjoyed them. The guy who came and brought the order over was quick and friendly, service with a smile! Much appreciated.Only thing that leads to confusion, and hope I'm fine as kept the receipts anyway just in-case is all the signs warning about parking fines. Which I know it needs so we can park there, but the machine to register number plate was out of order on both days. The lady at the bar said it's okay - but does leave a bit of a dread to think if they post a fine anyway.Could do with it looking at, or a formal sign we can take a photo of just in-case the parking vultures come after us. This is the only point that took it down to 4* from what otherwise would be 5*.

Oh WOW! This place is AMAZING! I came here with my fantastic tattooed friend Ben. He had a coke as he had been playing darts the night before and had got smashed. I had 2 slimline tonic waters as I am on slimming world and a pint of Stella also. The tables are clean and there is loads of sport on the televisual entertainers. The car park is awesome, but remember to take a picture of your registration for the computer machine on the inside that allows you to park here. On my visit, the computer machine was out of order, but the picture I took will stand me in good stead should I ever require it in the future. Full marks to the staff; they are friendly, helpful and are very competent in their delivery of two slimline tonics and a pint of Stella. I will be back!

A first time visit to the Thatch and Thistle, a lovely pub in a nice setting with friendly staff. The service was prompt, kind and helpful with lovely food at good value prices. We'll be back!

Only issue on this visit was around lack of salad with meals. We were informed while ordering and given discount on extra chips so we were happy.Looking forward to going again.Parking: Don’t forget to put your reg in the machine inside when you’ve parked.
