All dishes of the taster menu were perfect, but lacked that 'wow' factor. Also the choice of dishes wouldn't be my first choice and in that order: 3 x fish, meat, fruit compote, cheese (optional) and icecream. Also, I requested gluten and dairy free, but one of the dishes contained dairy icecream, which caused some problems later.

A lovely Michelin star restaurant in a great countryside location. The first time we have visited and we had a wonderful evening. The service was friendly and professional, the decor was nice and the food was incredible. I was surprised I haven’t heard of so-lo until now but we will be visiting again soon.

The food and service were well worth the Michelin star. My wife and I had the Taster Menu ( 1x Normal & 1-Pescatarian)???

This was our second visit to the beautiful restaurant but sadly we will not be visiting again. When my partner said he had booked our second visit for valentine's evening my first thought was oh no! to the waiting around between courses and the lack of staff to attend service. But hey let's try again with an open mind. (I kept my thoughts to myself) as the food was excellent. So let's try again. We arrived early and after a warm welcome we sat at the bar for pre dinner drinks. Once sat and initially served there were no staff behind the bar so my partner was unable to order the water we forgot to order and another glass of champagne. We waited to be seated. The food was fantastic and the 4 course valentine's menu at £98 pp was running smoothly until the restaurant got busy and the delays started. The wait for dessert was far to long. We had run out of drinks and so I asked to be seated back in the lounge bar (hopeing to get service) however no staff were attending and therefore we were still unable to order a coffee/drink until sat waiting ridiculously. We left eventually as everything was taking so long it ruined our evening.Although the food was excellent the lack of service completely ruined our evening. The billed was approx £350 of which £200 was for the 4 course taster and the rest on 2 x wine flights coffee and pre dinner drinks. The wine flight was dull and we were told there was no cheese available to order.Again I/we left completely deflated and fed up due to all the waiting around. We eat out regularly and sadly this is something we have only experienced at Solo. Not a feeling we should have in a fine dining restaurant of this quality. Please recruit more staff.

A good choice for a special occasion Sunday lunch set menu (or any other time as well, of course). High standard, without being too formal)

Solo is a Michelin starred restaurant and, as you might expect, the food is excellent. It is worth making a trip for its lunch menu, not just because of the food, but because it offers a superb value for money lunch. Admittedly, the choice is limited but for under £50 per head it really does deliver a great and affordable dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the service impeccable. There is a very good wine list but very few bargains! In addition there is a small but imaginative cocktail menu.

First time visit for their set Christmas Lunch set menu. Blimey, it was fantastic! I opted for venison as the most "Christmassy" of the mains and it was delicious - probably the best plate of food I've ever tasted. The sticky toffee pudding was outstanding too. Service was attentive and perfectly paced. Venue was quite small and intimate but they haven't tried to cram tables in so diners have plenty of elbow room to eat and not worry about disturbing other diners with chatter or visits to the loos. Small car park at rear is a bit cramped with less than 10 spaces I think. 1 bay marked for disabled visitors. Can park on street nearby though. All in all a thoroughly relaxing and memorable visit. Will definitely return again.

After seeing Christmas gift vouchers offered on their Facebook page, I called in today to get one for my parents Xmas present to be greeted by a very rude waitress who said they only do gift cards online where you pay and the gift card is an email receipt. I explained that I had £200 cash and she very abruptly said ‘no we’re serving’ and basically told me to leave. Went elsewhere to get my £200 voucher where they were very accommodating as you’d expect. Regardless of being awkward about giving the voucher I would not expect to be treated so rudely by staff like that anywhere, I was genuinely shocked at how rude she was and I definitely won’t be returning and will not be recommending to anyone

We had the festive lunch menu and the food was excellent. Having reviewed the menu in advance I enquired if I could have an alternative vegetarian starter. It was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and the restaurant pleasant. It was over an hours journey for us to visit the restaurant but if it was nearer I would have it on my list of favourites. The only small point I would make is that the atmosphere is a little austere as it’s clearly a place which takes its food seriously.
