Perhaps a little basic as a country pub experience, but the food is great and good value.Absolutely loved the belly pork, pizza was great too. Price point left me feeling we had good value for money.Second time visiting, had an amazing steak cooked for me about a year ago, so think the consistency of food is good too.Beers and drinks good too.

Well I was served a beer - the glass had lipstick marks on , then we have ordered a beef stroganoff ( waited 30 minutes ) wasnt busy at that time we weren't given a side vegetable which it should come with a meal Shame really...,

Firstly, important to say this is being written late August 2023. Things can change quickly in the pub trade!Great to see this traditional pub still trading and offering food. I'm told (but haven't first hand experience) that Sunday lunches here are superb and the pub is busy. Meals are also served evenings.I visited a Thursday afternoon for a swift pint. Only 2 other customers who soon left so the pub was very quiet indeed lacking atmosphere. However I was made very welcome by the bar guy and my pint of real ale was good value and nice tasting. Front door was open, music playing but 2 signs in same front window - one stating open the other closed!I'd passed by a previous Tuesday when the pub was still closed at 3pm. When I asked about opening times the answer was vague - basically variable between about noon and 2pm weekdays. In my view sticking to published opening times is an absolute must to avoid customer dissatisfaction. It will build regular trade in the long term.To conclude I wish the owner and staff well. They have a nice village pub which deserves to succeed but need to consider the above.

Excellent food. We are boaters so get a look at a lot of different pubs. We were charged £9 in one place but here glass of wine was under a 5er. Worth calling in.

Great local find. Friendly and welcoming staff to us and our dog. Good real ale on tap with Charnwood Brewers Vixen but more to my taste was the Blue Monkey Pale ale, which was delicious ? didn't eat so couldn't rate but will update when we do as menu looked good.
