Genuinely top experience. Great people running a beautiful pub. Food was fantastic, catered for 16 of us and blew everyone away with the quality and service. Also a gorgeous location. Perfect.

They took me to that small restaurant lost in the middle of the English countryside and I was dazzled by the attention of the waiter, the delicious food and the spectacular homemade pudding, I will repeat

I wouldn't usually order a roast Sunday lunch but everyone else did so I trotted meekly along in their wake, feeling resentful and berating myself for not being more assertive. Actually I was also seduced by the idea of treacle cured beef which sounded different. It wasn't actually very different to non treacle cured meat but it was delicious enough for that not to matter. Just the right amount of pinkness and chew to be interesting, with lots of veg on the plate and separate bowls of cheesey cauliflower. We'd had starters, whitebait or arinchini, so sadly couldn't manage a third course. Good value, excellent food and very friendly, helpful staff - a proper family run pub!

Our second visit to The Wheel in a few months for special birthday meals ,and can’t reccomend it highly enough .,consistently high standards across the board ,yet friendly and welcoming ,.this area is very fortunate to have such special hosts and staff ,and in one of my favourite places near to where I was brought up .Thank you David,Sarah and staff for such dedication and hard work ,rare these days .Parking: At rear of pub ,plenty of space if people park properly !

My partner booked table for 7, got there the bar was full of dirty glasses and no one seemed to care we had pre booked. Was so loud as small place we didn't stay longer than 3 mins. No organisation what so ever.

We called ahead for a table of eight on the spur of the moment on a Thursday afternoon, after a small family wedding. The warm and attentive service started at the door and continued through to us leaving. The food was of very good produce and quality and well received by everyone. Our six year old niece was treated to an off menu small fish and chips with little bowl of ice cream for dessert, which she devoured, a lovely touch from the landlord. What was a fantastic touch, and having been totally unannounced, the landlady hastily made a celebration dessert for our wedding duo, which was totally unexpected and loved by the bride and groom (that much they nearly ate the whole thing, much to the surprise of the landlady!).I had the Lamb shank with whitebait to start. Both were delicious.A highly recommended place for food, in a great setting.Dietary restrictions: On the ball with food ingredients, non dairy in our case.

Been here a few times, and enjoyed every time I go as the owners are really friendly and chatty. I'm an ale drinker and there was plenty there with good local knowledge. I like their little snug area, with a welcome fire to enjoy your pint. There is a dining area with a bigger open fire. I did eat here on my birthday and had sausage and mash (full of taste), but got a happy birthday from everyone in the pub and a free chocolate pudding which was nice and I wasn't expecting. There is plenty of parking and even a circular hiking path from it. A warm welcome and a warm atmosphere is what you get here.

Wonderfully friendly and charming little pub. Definitely recommend a visit. Starters were tasty the only downside was in the pulled pork burger the meat was cold and had gone a little congealed in the sauce but won't stop us from returning :)

A superb find. The beef & horseradish sandwich with a side of chips was great & very reasonably priced too. The staff were all absolutely lovely. Great place.

Went for Sunday lunch last week. Despite having two large groups in (one of them ours) the staff and kitchen coped really well, turning out great meals and lovely beers efficiently and perfectly. Really friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. The best country pub in the area.
