As one of the last bastions of any decent real ale in Prescot, the Sun Inn has hung in there, and is definately worthy of mention. It has at least two real ales on, well kept, usually nationally sourced. The building is beautiful, but very tired, it has all the basics of its original pub/hotel/inn layout, the toilets still have their original glass windows, it could just do with some investment. Very... Folk-y - quite a nice pub, with regular live music (ordinary pub drinkers who just happen to take their guitars !) of a "folk" nature. Very olde-worlde, comparable perhaps to saloons of a century ago. Not sure it's entirely to my taste, hence the 4 stars.
