Very disappointing stay in 9F. Started on arrival with two cot beds in our room that were completely inadequate and unsafe. The window in the bedroom didn’t lock and could be easily pulled open from outside which meant it was unsafe to leave our babies asleep/napping in the room as it was ground floor and the windows were huge. Bedroom ceiling had a terrible leak patch. Kitchen had ants crawling everywhere so we didn’t use it, nor felt comfortable unpacking any food/using cupboards etc. The cottages in general need some serious TLC. Breakfast on day one was not ready for our pre arranged collection, apparently kitchen had no idea and so by the time it arrived it went to complete waste. When I did express my dissatisfaction to the waitress her attitude was dismissive and “it wasn’t me so it’s not my problem”. The Hotel did deduct breakfast and the cost of cot bed rentals but at still almost £700 for 4 nights it left a lot to be desired. I will be writing a formal complaint as we feel the stay was not worth the price and far from it. Unfortunately with babies I didn’t have the time to complain or make a big deal about things but on reflection it was very poor. A shame because this place has huge potential .

Lovely place to stay and staff are friendly. The only thing that let us down was our rooms weren't ready when we got there, they didn't have the keys to give to us but wasn't a big deal for us.

My parents stayed here this week and unfortunately one of them fell ill and required an ambulance. The service from the hotel staff throughout the night and for the rest of the stay was amazing. The team here were calm, thoughtful and delivered more than what was necessary. Great hotel and team.

The staff were all very polite and welcoming the ladies on reception seemed organised. Sadly the hotel lacked management. The staff while very pleasant were not organised. Breakfast was the worst time with the buffet running empty and dirty plates from first course left on the table after the cooked breakfast was delivered. Evening meal was slightly better organised. Food was very good. Breakfast coffee was dreadful. See through coloured water without taste, we sent our pot back three times before getting drinkable coffee. No excuse these days for bad coffee. Worst of all were the sticky tables the cutlery on some tables was stuck fast and floor was sticky. Tables were being liberally sprayed with anti bac and wiped with a cloth that really needed rinsing after each table. It even went back on the table after bring dropped on the floor. Tables need a good clean with soapy water which is more effective at cleansing than a cursory spray and a cloth in continuous use. Sadly we wont be back although the setting is lovely.

We had one of the Lodge Rooms. Very clean, comfortable bed and good en suite. It has a sitting room and well provided for kitchenette. If you wanted to self cater. We only had breakfasts in the restaurant.Very good variety of choice and freshly cooked. No main reason except we wanted explore the areas restaurants. Would certainly go here again, if in the area.

This is a fantastic hotel to stay at, my stay being marred by very poor food and service, particularly at breakfast. First the good news, a lovely old building well situated to visit Norfolk and its delights. The views at the hotel are stunning with open countryside, a small lake etc. Our room was in a 'cottage' and again, the views from the room were stunning. The food, as I say, was very poor indeed. We were there for 4 night (on a couch tour) and the menu was repetitive with risotto, chicken breast and salmon being on the menu at least twice each. There were 3 main options each nigh, the last option always being vegan etc, so really, in my case, just 2 options. On 2 nights the food was so poor I left the main course so in essence, other than the starters and deserts (which were fine but what can go wrong with these ?), I only had 2 meals which were edible (The poorest meals were the risotto, do not order this whatever you do!!). Breakfast was a farce with staff not utilising their time correctly and running round like headless chickens. Three times we had to order tea and coffee and this still did not arrive. The cooked breakfast, when it did arrive, was fine on most days but on my last morning every item was stone cold !! On a table of 6 one of us was always waiting for their meal to arrive whilst everyone else was eating, sometimes for some considerable time, whilst staff dashed passed the table with the relevant meal to serve others. The staff, I must say, were lovely, absolutely no complaint there, they were courteous, polite, chatty and tried to help but there was not enough staff on duty and those that were needed guidance or training. In short a fabulous hotel totally let down by the quality of the food.

This is our third stay here, both pre covid, during covid and now…. each time in one of the fab little cottages which are perfect for a family stay with the separate bedroom and 2 bathrooms - and we enjoyed this stay as much as ever! it was the first time we had been in the pavilion bar which wasn’t finished last time and this was a lovely addition. staff were really accommodating, letting us pick up our passes early for the nearby searles resort so we could use the pool to amuse the kids on a wet saturday. We had been booked in to breakfast at 10, but when we asked to move this due to it being a bit late with 2 kids, the food and beverage manager was happy to fit us in at 815. The rooms were as comfortable as ever and always nice to be woken by the ducks at your back door! Breakfast was lovely and we didn’t have to wait long for the cooked items. It’s so reasonably priced, comfortable and welcoming, we look forward to coming back soon…..!

Booked a room in their new Pavillion complex and 2 nights dinner/breakfast to meet 2 friends.Have been there before so we knew what to expect only it did not happen. The service in the restaurant was disjointed.Meals for the 4 were not served together and it took nearly 90 mins to complete an evening meal.Food was delicious when we got it.They need extra staff and why not get waiting staff to use trays to bring out a number of dishes at one time like they do on cruises.Waiting staff continually going into kitchen bringing out 1 or 2 plates at a time. Rooms above the pavilion are great but as golfers arrive early am they can be a bit noisy and why shut the pavilion bar so early in the evening ?

Very very friendly professional staff whom made us feel welcome and appreciated, we intend a return visit when the Spa is up and running. We recommend this venue for its tranquility also the golf and up coming Spaand not forgetting this is a superb base to visit outside attractions and events. Both had a great few days away.

Looks the part but unfortunately doesn't deliver on service. The award winning restaurant was below par, the belly pork tasted like it had been deep fried and the waitress didn't take notice of requests of no cinnamon and apple jus. All see could do was shrug her shoulders and offer no apology. Bar area had very little atmosphere also. What was supposed to be a relaxing brake was spoilt by irresponsible owners of noisy dogs barking and whining in the early hours. The lady on reception delt with the incident rapidly however.

The meal was lovely, but why, oh why do these places advertise GF options, which just means you do not get half of the meal? A beef roast dinner, but minus the Yorkshire puddings, and minus the cauliflower cheese. No extra veg or anything ,and no discount for the lack of effort to replace. How hard would it be the buy in some GF yorkies, or make a cauli cheese with cornflower, or even just sprinkle some cheese over some cauliflower? A shame really, as my empty plate did deter a bit from what was an otherwise, tasty roast, and it wasn't really as if i was that busy.

Using a red letter day gift we had one night, dinner bed and breakfast. We were upgraded to the main house, and although it took all night for the room to cool down, it was comfortable. The food and restaurant however was terrible and should be avoided. The tables were worn, scratched and needed re-varnishing. Basically looked tatty. What made it worse was that it was so sticky the cutlery was stuck, you could not slide a glass across the table. You wanted to wash your hands... The starter of chicken parfait, came with cold soft broiche toast. We asked for fresh toast which was supplied. The pate was an unappealing dark brown with a gritty texture. Sirloin steak & pont neuf....the steak had very little flavour....whilst the potatoes were brown on the outside, inside they were hard and uncooked. Breakfast, the table was less sticky....but the milk jug accompanying the tea was dirty with hardened food deposits. When we pointed it out, the response from the waitress was "lovely" The bacon as part of the cooked breakfast was barely cooked and grey in colour. It turned out the young couple sitting next to us had similar issues with their dinner, sending it back three times. Also, despite two hand pumps and a beer clip for Wherry.....all ale was off. It seemed overall that priority was for groups of golfers.

We were booked in for a two night stay in what they referred to as cottages. The reality was that they were possibly the saddest of rooms I've ever encountered. Basically, some sort of cheap hybrid mix between a studio and low-quality hotel room. Had previously stayed in the actual hotel which was charming and full of character. However, even that appears to have gone downhill. POOR ACCOMMODATIONS If I were to compare to a mainstream Travel Lodge, then these accommodations would be about 30-40% less luxurious and comfortable. Basic functionality and design appear to have been ignored, and even the TV isn't in-line / centralised with the bed, which is your only realistic option if you want to watch TV as the chairs are too uncomfortable to use for longer than 10-15 minutes. Hard and soft furnishings and decor are simply not in line with the character of the actual building and very drab / plain for the money. Chipped wardrobe door, protective fitting missing off shower-head support, and mould on the tiles above the bathroom window - so pretty poorly maintained. It would seem that these rooms (there are several on two floors in each building / cottage) have really been designed with a costing spreadsheet being the main motivational factor behind any design ethos; cheap and basic functionality. In short, characterless and soulless dwellings where the design emphasis has been profit driven as opposed to customer satisfaction. Ambience probably comparable to that of a GP's waiting room... COVID EXCUSES - BREAKFAST AND CLEANING This is the 'rip off' factor where you are left feeling pretty grubby and mugged off! Previously, there used to be a fantastic self-service buffet type of affair. But now the management seem to have hit upon the idea of using COVID (despite official lifting of all restrictions) to increase their margins and squeeze more profit out of their guests. What you now get is a chaotic breakfast service where you have to wait to be seated and then it's literally the luck of the draw to see when you get your breakfast after ordering it. The excuse conveniently used to justify this 'new system' is COVID which, considering what we've all been through, was extremely offensive and a real cheap shot! Many of the restaurant staff appeared agitated, flustered and demotivated. When you compare them to the front of house and reception (who were extremely professional and welcoming) it's hard to believe they work in the same hotel. There is self-service for juices, cereal, pastries and toast (bizarrely, as maybe COVID doesn't live in the self-service section?) which are more or less a free-for-all between competing guests as products are often prone to run out without replenishment and side plates / bowls running out. Compared to our previous visit, the selection of self-service products was sparse. For example, the pastry section was literally a choice of two - croissants and pan-au-chocolate. Compared to the previous self-service system, this one will leave you feeling like you are consuming your breakfast in something that lies between a cross between Fawlty Towers and some sort of Squid Games survival competition as you try to outwit other guests to nab some toast of a pastry! You will only get your room cleaned and serviced if staying over 3 nights (with COVID once again being the most convenient of excuses) which again leaves you feeling a bit used and grubby... CONCLUSION It's a shame that this hotel has now appeared to have been run and directed on an emphasis that seems to be totally profit driven. The previous character and ambience are now missing and we felt so offended (both worked front-line throughout the pandemic and I ended up being hospitalised and nearly dying after contracting it) by the use of COVID to make more money that we will never now return to this establishment. Being IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) trained and qualified myself, I can tell you with complete certainty that the excuses using COVID as the justification for changes

Booked a night away for the jubilee. Receptionist was pleasant room wasn't ready which was fine as we wanted to walk into Hunstanton. Room was lovely we had to pre book breakfast slot which only available time was 9.15. We arrived at the restaurant at said time to be told table wasn't ready so to wait in snug where 4 other couples were also waiting. I find this very frustrating and pointless having a time slot if you can't stick to this. Priority was giving to the golfers. 25 minutes later we finally got our table. It took another 15 minutes for waitress to take our order. It certainly put a dampener on our night away
