We’ve just had the best fish & chips ever I can’t recommend this fish shop/cafe highly enough Fish was so fresh it was cooked to perfection chips were amazing service was brilliant portions were generous There is a varied menu I had cod whilst my husband had plaice both were fantastic The cafe part is small we were lucky enough to get a table but if it’s full it really is worth going back later It was our first visit but will definitely return next time we’re in Swaffham

My wife and I moved to the area 3 years ago and the best discovery we have made during that time is Mother Hubbards Fish & chips. Previously we would occasionally, on a convenience basis, take home Fish & chips. Since discovering Mother Hubbards, Friday evening has become a ritual, which we look to above any other meal of the week (otherwise we cook dinner ourselves every evening). Sounds an exaggeration, well we can hardly believe it ourselves. "Please keep up the excellent service".Sincerely, Bob & Julia

We often stop off here when travelling back to North Norfolk if we are hungry. The quality of the food here is excellent and the portions are generous. Great value for money too!

We three ate in the shop at 6pm. Batter on cod was lovely and crispy; not swimming in oil. Chips had been freshly cooked. Fab meals and good value for money. We're definitely coming back!Parking: Parking immediately outside and across the road in Market Square.Wheelchair accessibility: Wide and flat access.

Be honest with you, we stopped on the way back from Norwich airport for fish and chips. And I’ve got to say the fish and chips were amazing. Also the staff were very friendly would definitely recommend. ?

We were surprised that the "BBQ Rib" was deep-fried and seemed like undistinguishable meat. The chili, however, was good. Chips were average. Nice, friendly staff. Small, clean restaurant with a couple of tables... mostly take-out.

Poor. Only had a portion of chips but they had been out for some while and were not hot but were greasy and repeated afterwards. Reasonable quantity but that is only positive on the food. Staff were polite. Shop clean and tidy. Last time I went there it was the same and gave them a second chance. Never again. You can do so much better.

Friendly efficient staff and service. I'm not a lover of chips but thoroughly enjoyed these with my fish.Kid-friendliness: Children were made welcomeParking: Parking outside of shop off of the road

This place is unreal. It's nice some of the best fish and chips I've had. Also, they do a chip bowl, very friendly and doesn't take long if you want a bag ask for it or you won't get one but no hardship walking to the car with the wrapped up goodness.

This review is based on one visit where 3 portions of cod and chips were purchased , the review refers to all the portions . A one word sum up AWFUL . The worst take away fish and chips I have ever had. For the price it should have been outstanding , it was not The fish was over cooked and bone dry with no succulence ( all portions ), The chips had been cooked in tired oil at a too low temperature so were boiled in the oil as opposed to fried , as a result the chips were running in oil which was dripping out of the paper . To the owners if you would like to see what well cooked ,fairly priced portions of fish and chips look and taste like , I suggest you visit the “Pilot Inn “ Dungeness Had I had not been staying some 9 miles away I would bought the food back for a refund

I had battered cod without the cod (basically a piece of batter) two small sausages and a hand full of chips for £19:50 and we were still hungry afterwards and had to go elsewhere. Supposed to be a must go to Fish and Chip shop but it was really a bad eating experience.

The food was Amazing but be wary of portion size. A small chips was barely enough for one person. Also the curry sauce doesn't taste like old school chip shop curry, it's more like the bisto powdered stuff, maybe it is, who knows! The chips, albeit a tiny portion were literally some of the best I've ever had. We have visited many chippys!

Visited this store this evening! All's I asked if I could use my Staff Discount card! Which the member of staff did explain but I think in a rudely way! And after this I felt very unwelcome! I ordered a large bags a chips (which I was given a Small Bag) and a chicken and mushroom pie, to be wrapped separately but and it got wrapped together! The man in the shop offered to re wrap the pie but I said No! And the reason I said no as it'sre handling my Food!WILL NOT USE AGAIN,WILL GO TO MR CHIPS IN FUTHER!!

A bit sad really. This used to be our local and was always on the expensive side but the quality and portion size made it worthwhile. We visited yesterday as we were in swaffham and the food portions were abysmally small. A large chips was a small portion at best. We ordered a medium cod which was again small but acceptable but the small cod was absolutely tiny… think kids meal. It was also tough and tasted like it had been sitting out of the fryer for ages. The prices are way too high now for the quality and quantity. Feel ripped off to be honest hence leaving a review. Shame as this was once a nice place to eat.
