Timeless kind of place. If you want shallow and glitzy, this is not the venue for you. Atmospheric without trying, superb well kept beers. You either get this place or you don't, and if you don't then you just don't get what makes the heart of a good pub, and you probably don't have a pulse. My wife and I called in one lunchtime, only three other people in, but that doesn't matter because it's a great pub and always will be.

I remember this from a misspent youth in Filey when it was known as The American Bar. It is out of the way and most trippers will miss it. That is probably why there were just four locals propping up tha bar when we walked in. They were aimiable enough and happy to share banter and a bit of mickey taking. A nice drop of beer on the bar too. This place won't be for everyone. You probably will find it a bit frosty unless you make the effort. But it's comfortable, has a good range of beers, and you probably won't struggle to find a seat.

Nice little local in my newly found neighbourhood. Could do without the noisy kids and dogs running round though!

This used to be a cracking pub, always on my list when I visit Filey. My wife and I popped in on Sunday and were shocked how unwelcome we were made to feel. Decided just to have a half and were glad. The beer was awful. Will not be back

Having been a Camra member for 30 years++ Never been refused a taster!! In a real ale establishment. This was met with reluctance and an icy reception. We don’t give testers !! “Said the bar man “ He did give one most reluctantly. No tasting notes or small visual jar on bar. Camra affiliated!! Served a pint less the test !! Atmosphere was not friendly or welcoming ..possibly a local establishment where Lager is more readily available.. An update of the premises would improve the ambiance. So back in the day Will not be returning.

Nice little bar with a good atmosphere. Beer was ok. Quite loud with quizzes and so on.
We are a married couple and based ourselves at Blue Dolphin taking advantage of a cheap midweek deal there. We did sections of The Cleveland Way in a morning both to Scarborough in one direction and Filey in the other on different days. We are reasonably regular visitors to Filey as are other Family Members who had highly recommended Bonhommes as a hidden away Bar worth finding and they were right. Went in Midweek Afternoons after seeking out on a side street off The Crescent (look for the Bar Lamps outside). Not a food pub as we knew but a delightful few hours spent in clean surroundings, pleasant welcome from different Bar Ladies on consecutive days and really friendly locals whom we / they chatted with happily. Never got chance to go on an evening but believe they do quizzes / karaoke / live bands on selected dates and can imagine those being good nights too. Filey is blessed with other good pubs also for a relatively small resort and Bonhommes is now definitely on that list for us and well worth seeking out we suggest.

Called in for a swift pint. It was deserted. Just me and 6 other clients. Shame because it's normally steady away whenever I've called in before.
